To be fair, last week Agnew ran an amazing route in double coverage and Trevor missed him. 

I’m not trying to bash Trevor, but I do hope we start to see more consistent wow plays from him. The franchise and fan base needs it

And just the other week Trevor made a perfect deep throw to Agnew in the endzone that went right through his hands. He couldn't have placed it any better. It goes both ways.

This one to be exact, but it's not the only one. Point is, he can make the wow plays, but if the dude on the other end doesn't do his job nobody remembers it. The biggest need of this team right now is an X WR.

He didn’t play a great game by any means but he’s still got all the tools and skills to be elite. Just have to put it all together with Pederson. I have full confidence in both guys.

We also had 20 pass plays over 20 yards on Sunday and moved the ball down the field but that is irrelevant it seems. 

This fan base has just had too many rough years and bad games immediately turn you into the last bad player we had. It's been an abusive relationship being a Jags fan and it's weird this first bump in the road and it's throw it all away. You would think we would have learnt from doing that the last 5 years.

Because I have nothing better to do and I was interested to see if it was true we had 20 pass plays over 20 yards, I decided to count them.  The NFL calls any pass with a target 15+ yards down field a long pass.  A short pass is a target <15 yards.

TL threw 47 passes in total.  33 short, 13 long and 1 spike.

The passing results on each drive:

Q1:
  Drive 1: 1/2 short, 0/0 long, dunt
  2: 2/2 short, 0/1 long, punt
  3: 3/5 short, 0/0 long, FG
Q2:
  4: 0/2 short, 1/1 long, downs
  5: 2/4 short, 2/2 long, FG
Q3:
  6: 2/3 short, 1/1 long, INT on a short pass
  7: 4/4 short, 1/2 long, downs
Q4:
  8: 0/3 short, 0/0 long, punt
  9: 2/5 short, 1/3 long, downs
10: 3/3 short, 0/3, INT on a long pass

So overall he was (putting aside the spiked ball) 25/46 (54% completion rate), 19/33 on short passes (57%) and 6/13 on long passes (46%).  That coupled with no TD’s and two INTs netting him a QB rating of 54.0.  Short pass accuracy and better throwing decisions to avoid INTs is the quickest path for TL to improve his play.

He throws inaccurately because his feet aren’t set.
His feet aren’t set because he’s dancing in and around the pocket.
He’s dancing around the pocket because his decision-making is too reactionary.
His decision making is poor because he’s not reading plays until they develop.

Everything improves if he can anticipate play, read the progressions and let his throwing mechanics take care of themselves.  As it is, he’s like a kid learning to drive.  Every move is conscious.  Little behaviour is learned and automatic.

Sure, but he misses most deep throws he attempts. And mostly pretty badly.

Last week when they played a game in swirling winds and rain that blew an extra point that was right down the middle into a miss?

The Jaguars played the wrong strategy in the eagles game. Really it was amazing how close Trevor got on the throw that you're crucifying him for given the weather.

I think the Jaguars can win without a true X receiver, but if you want to see deep pass connections then that would definitely make a big difference.

go beyond a stat sheet. He's putting the ball where it can be caught, most of the time, or he's putting it where only his guys have a shot, again, most of the time. Biggest problem is I think he and the rest of the team start getting adrenaline rushes as the game plays on, and the "yips" start happening.

Y'all make it like he's the second coming of Bortles. Cripes. We've seen wildly inaccurate. We've seen hopelessly under-talented. Heck, we've seen gun-shy. I don't think any of those words apply to Trev...yet.

For every great thing he shows? He shows just as many reasons to doubt him. Consistently. The question is whether or not he's going to stop playing like Sunshine Brett Favre this Sunday or show out like he did in week two and three and manage the game better.

That right there is my biggest concern. He will show flashes that he's the guy and make some great throws, and then he will just Bortles it up and make me question everything. His deep ball accuracy is TERRIBLE. He stares down receivers. He forces the ball to covered receivers.

What you are describing sure sounds like an inexperienced QB. He threw two picks that were the result of very good coverage coming off their men. Those are savvy plays by the defenders.

He ain't doinking passes off of helmets or chucking prayers at guys in double and triple coverage.

I mean, get mad. Scream into the void if it helps. Truth is, all we can do is cheer for the laundry and hope it improves.

Repeat after me. It could be A LOT worse.

Dude, the throw barely missed and it looked like Agnew was running in syrup. In rainy, windy conditions. On a clear day, Agnew is under that ball and makes the grab for sure.
The conditions last week were so extraordinary that I don't think you can consider any of the outcomes as typical. Well, maybe the D line getting shoved around for the bulk of the day...

That's what is so baffling.

1st year garbage should be thrown out the window because of the worst coaching staff in history. This is game 5 with a new coaching staff, offensive players and new offensive playbook. Should he have seen Stingley? Sure. But if I really wanted to, I could find back interceptions by Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, Allen or any other QB that you wish. It happens.

Yeah. Trev still hasn't had a lot of Bortles moments.... pick 6s that make no sense, doinks off OL helmets.... not a lot of ducks. He also doesn't have any  Sanchez "butt fumble" type moments (google it if you're somehow young enough to not remember) .

But this goes back to the point I've always tried to make about these young QBs, once in a generation talent is hyperbole spewed from draftniks and people who pretend to know what the heck they're talking about. Few guys are actually NFL ready right away, all guys need development, and they all need a decent roster around them.

Trevs freshman campaign was terrible. Bad team. Bad coaching. Bad everything. A complete throwaway. This is year 1 of his NFL development and getting a decent roster and staff around him.

Let's pump the brakes on any bust talk for sure. He has to play better. Surely. But let's not act like he doesn't give you more hope than Bortles, Gabbert, Minshew or the plethora of other QBs we've trotted out in the past decade ever did.
