Trevor Lawrence Discussion (merged)

My boss is a huge Giants fan.And he was surprised TL threw such a bullet to the goal line at the end of the game.

This is awkward.

I was under the impression that you were the "boss."

Anyone else remember all the spider chart arguments with TMD?

Jaguars Receivers average separation this far in the 2022 season:

Engram - 3.4
Kirk -  3.2
Zay Jones - 3.2
Marvin Jones -  2.3

(next gen stats)

So we have learned that the line (at least the healthy one) was easily above average at pass protection.  Now we learn the receivers are well above average at gaining separation.

Man, the list of excuses is getting shorter and shorter.  Sun flares!  Yeah, that’s the ticket.  Sun flares.

I knew a our receivers where getting open.  Its one of the reasons our offense has been much better.  Trevor has played pretty good but he has missed a lot of throws. This defense just has to get on track

You make me feel guilty.  This is your game, after all.  But your analysis seems entirely emotional, not factual.  Perhaps an outsider’s perspective will help you see your blind spots.  Can’t hurt because they are very blind.

Robinson has been dead average and Taylor well above average.

https://twitter.com/pff_moo/status/15805...cYn5h1R2kw

Both Scherff and Bartch are well above average and Bartch has actually outperformed against tougher matchups.

https://twitter.com/pff_moo/status/15803...bdYJAVtj_A

Also in that second link are centres and Fortner has performed a little below average, but since he’s a rookie that’s not too bad, seeing as he’s still clearly better than 40% of the centres out there.

Now you can retreat to PFF is garbage, etc, in order to maintain the house of cards you have assembled, but you’ll be missing the opportunity to really understand where the Jags are in their development.  The line is better than average - three of the players much better than average.  The WR are adequate.

An NFL offence lives or dies by one singular position.  We are currently being encouraged to accept “ok”.  Well, OK ain’t gonna do it.  He’s got one year left and then he’s warming benches.

The funniest part of this "argument" is you'd get the idea Trevor isn't playing at an above average rate so far this year, especially when everyone was healthy.

The Jags pass pro win rate is below average in the league. Posted it last week.

Also - Bartch is not our LG guard anymore and Fortner has been bad in pass pro all year - but you don't want to mention that right?
Where's your rating for Shatley and Van Lanen?

If you want to tout RG and RT playing above average as some validity for your horrible takes on the QB play in Jax, then go ahead. But anyone actually watching the games sees the quick pressure coming way too often.  And the lack of a pocket to step into has been glaring as well.

The funny thing is, Trevor has still played well much more often than not.
He's just not getting a clean enough pocket to connect on the deeper stuff most of the time.
He's made some bad throws too, but better protection would certainly help the deep ball accuracy and the frequency of it being called.

And who is he throwing to? The Jags don't have any downfield threat right now.

Curious as to what happened to Agnew. If I recall correctly, he was supposed to provide that vertical downfield presence, along with possibly Zay Jones.

Get a grip dude, we have the right to be, because this is his 2nd year and he hasn't even played a game that you could absolutely be confident enough to say he is our future.

Maybe stupid people like you are the ones that really do not care. Stop wearing your tinted teal homer glasses and wake up to reality and hold people accountable. Especially from a billion dollar franchise that drafts and puts [BLEEP] product on the field each week. This franchise has a stable HC in charge now and what do we do? We still waste the players talents like J Robs and ETN by forcing a guy that isnt capable of leading an offense each week. Do you really buy into Pederson philosophy right now? You'd be a fool to do so. It's the right approach but a wrong decision to have a QB that hasnt shown anything to lead this offense. If we would've ran the ball more and not wait on Lawrence [BLEEP] pass attempts to contribute to only 57 yards thrown on the field the first half, we would of atleast been up by 3 TDs against Indianapolis.

Trevor hasn't shown anything to lead this offense.... You mean except for the 10 minute game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.... To take the lead.... Dude go sit down every time you post you make yourself look like an even bigger idiot than you already are
Which was set up by the run. Go look at the last drive  game log vs IND and prove me otherwise.

Until this team finds a way to feed ETN the rock we arent winning much games with the pass game. Lawrence hasn't shown ability of leading this offense through the air on high volume. I dont see why Pederson is so set on having him dropback 30 plus times a game. That's not the way to win this year, you know it and I know it.

Lol nitpicking aint 'ya? Jaguars pass pro has been one of the best in the league, its not a suprise that Lawrence hasnt been sacked all that much. It's also evidence that you do not really watch bad offensive line plays through the week.

The run block has been an issue for us this year and not the protection....

All the metrics say you are full of [BLEEP]

And you are. Completely.

The run block win rate is around 70%

and the pass pro win rate is at 51% - 6th worst in the league.

I could careless about that one particular stat of ranking an OL play. Eyes are to see..... majority of the time Lawrence drops back he has a clean pocket. Seems like a bunch of excuses for TL's play in general.

PBWR and RBWR look at solely just "did the runner/blocker win/lose within 2.5 seconds" with some adjustments for double teams and screen passes but it might miss some plays where the play is designed for things that run counter to that.

PFF grades would account for that since it's a person watching each play.

Baldin list is easily the best to see OL play and their performance

https://twitter.com/benbbaldwin/status/1...5426221056

JAX end up with a terrible win rate but high PFF. Does that imply they are underperforming relative to their talent? Lol. I'll take their opinions over yours any day of the week NYC4jags.

Deep ball accuracy is Trevor's biggest weakness
