Smoot is a man on a mission and needs to play more

Tell me you don't actually think Caldwell ever intended that to happen, LOL

The raiders moved Adams around trying to find better mismatches. It will occasionally work and an OLB has to drop until a DB picks up the route when it hits their zone.

This is nothing new.

Folks were actually praising the rookie Walker for doing this well in weeks 2 and 3.

Every coverage scheme has chinks in its armor.

Smoot has played between 29-49% of snaps each game.

Yesterday was the second time this year he hit 49% .

They should keep getting him out there closer to 50% instead of 30% of the time.

There is a such thing as an audible in defense, it's nothing new.  Or even call a timeout.  We got very lucky on that play.    Walker has the athletic ability to drop in coverage, Smoot isn't close to the athlete Walker is. Smoot has been our best pass rusher as of late and should be getting 50% of the snaps at the very least imo to see if he can handle the load.

Even Tony says he is our best pass rusher.

I saw that clip and all I could think about is how horrible Frangie is as the play by play guy.

Walker would be better in coverage. He's a ghost as a pass rusher.

Maybe they should line Walker and Smoot up at DT on the Nascar package.

Smoot is giving me them Paul Spicer vibes. I would find a way to keep him. He’s the best pass rusher on team.

Sigh, i wanted sauce gardner at one.. lookin like that would have been the right pick as he is balling got ny. I still like walker and think he will be better in time but it does suck because tyson and gardner coulda been our new ramsey bouyee duo.

He might just be the interior DT disruptor folks here are clamoring to draft. If he’s the team’s best pass rusher, play him 75% of the time.

Maybe even better.

I was okay with Sauce at 1 as well. Was more of Hutchinson guy, but I feel like walker may hit his stride the second half of this year.

Against the Chiefs and Patty Mahommes I hope we see 91 at DT on 3rd downs. Heck I would like to see him there all game.

Something in that contract says anything over 49% of the snaps then he will make a zillion dollars. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t play him more.

Peterson was asked about Smoot in today's presser. It's the very first question. Guys like Smoot will continue to rotate in and out.

They haven't played him more because there are more gifted athletes on the roster at OLB/DE and he doesn't get on the field at DT/3-4end except in pass defense packages.

Now that he has taken advantage of his opportunity and actually earned more snaps, I'm sure he will receive them, especially since those more gifted athletes have not been playing up to their draft status.

FWIW, Allen and Walker each were credited with two pressures vs LVR
