Jaguars Control Their Playoff Destiny
|
Beat TEN twice and we have a legit shot at the division. They still have the Eagles, Chargers, Cowboys, and us twice. No cake walk

No cake walk As atoked as I am about the win and TL's performance, we don't control our playoff destiny....just yet, The fact is as of now, the tacks are still ahead of us by 3 games. Even assuming we sweep those bastards, they still have to lose at least one other game besides the two they lose to us in this scenario and we have to win out That doesn't in factor in wild card possibilities.tere will have to be at least one team in the top 6 to lose at least 7 games in orderfor us to get a wild card. That said, as remote as the chances are right now, it's the last week in November and the first week of December, and we're actually kicking around the possibility of winning the division or otherwise reaching the playoffs. It's great for a change. We gotta beat Detroit. That has the makings of a tough game. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
The Jaguars were 4-7 in 1996 and made it all the way to the AFC title game. Could history repeat..

No cake walk They ply Philly this week. If we beat the lions, there's a strong chance next week we'll be 2 games back with two against the titans, then we'll basically control our destiny. It's a Longshot, but not nearly as impossible as it would have seemed @ 12:30 this afternoon. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

However, that could change as quickly as next week. If the Jaguars beat the Lions and the Titans lose to Eagles (which is very possible), then yes, we would control our destiny. We would be two games behind with two games still to play against the Titans. If we sweep, not only would we make up the record difference, but we would lock the tie breaker advantage against them. I know I'm dreaming, but as Jaguars fans, we get so few opportunities to dream, so just let me........ Edit: I just realized that I forgot about the Colts. We would need the Colts to lose either tomorrow or next week too for us to be in control of our destiny.
Yeah - let's just try to get through next week's road game and then figure out if we can beat those flaming thumb tack hillbilly inbred rat soup eaten' cousin lovin' antifreeze moonshine drinkin' north Florida running back drafting [BLEEP]

They're currently on the outside looking in. But, these players meant it when they said they think they can go on a run and make noise. Today was a step in that direction. Next week can be too. The Mayo Clan plays Philly bext week, which they certainly could lose. Come out of Detroit at 5-7, and you walk into Tennessee looking to pull, potentially, within one game of the division lead. If that all happens, the playoffs start to become a legitimate possibility. But they're gonna have to win the division. None of the AFC South is going to grab a wildcard slot.

I saw today that three teams are in the hunt for the playoffs and the colts listed at #3 have a record of 4-6-1.... the two other teams are the pats #1 and the chargers #2 and they only have one more win than us.... And of course we beat the chargers.... So a wild card spot could potentially still work

We control
Our destiny if the opposition [BLEEP] up. Great win today, great learning experience for our franchise QB. Be like the legend BB. We’re on to Detroit. Let’s talk about this later if it’s still in the air. Enjoy the win!

I hope not cause Jags lost to patriots in AFC tittle game, and anyways Playoffs!!!!!!!!!! to early to talk about that. snowwolf titans owner in madden. note titans owner means im undeafted againest them.
Playoffs would be a bit of a miracle. Like a 5-1 run down the stretch? Let's just enjoy the excitement of a young team building and growing.
Love the W though. Lions is a winnable game imo. Let's get win #5
You guys may be over reacting... we suck something fierce against the Titans. Our schedule isn't exactly patty cake either. Realistically we aren't winning out. But it would be nice to still have a high goal that is achievable. Tacks likely lose next week at Philly, but we are at Detroit who gave Buffalo all they could handle. Then we have to go to Nashville... ugh. I like being competitive in every game but it's about W's and we screwed the pooch too many times this year (Houston, Washington, at Indy). Trevor and the offense carried us to a win today in a 60 minute battle that came down to the wire, it doesn't get any better than that. This isn't our year, but the future may actually be bright.

We should be competitive in all the games. But we tend to play down against bad teams and it comes down to making big plays in the 4th quarter to win. Hard to make a living like that. I went to the game today (1st this season), and in the 4th the atmosphere felt exactly like it did in 96' when we beat the Ravens 28-25 to move to 4-6. We then lost to the Steelers on the road, but then reeled off 5 in a row, beating the Falcons in the season finale on a missed 30 yd field goal by Mr. Reliable Morten Anderson to clinch the playoffs as a Wild Card. I was in the North end zone that day and watched the stadium explode when that kick sailed wide left. There may be many of us on this board that remember that reg season run and then the playoff run as a Wild Card, and for me, it was a better feeling than 1999 because we came from nowhere as a young team and shocked the NFL world. 2017 was similar, but different. If it happens this year, it would top both 1996 and 2017 IMHO, because we have been so bad for so long, especially last year, and it would defy everyone's expectations. Here's hoping it happens, high draft pick be damned.

I think we're in for more ups and downs this year. Our defense is pretty weak. And Trevor is still young and developing. But the future is so bright we'll need sunglasses. I was also in the stadium in 1996 for Morton's miss. That was one of the best moments of my life.
Ahh optimism, it's good to see again. But optimism like fortune, is a fickle [BLEEP]. I'd be happy to split the remaining games tbh. Pederson said it himself, it's going to take more than a single season to turn this ship around. Anyway, it's always fun to win.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
