Dude, you're thinking about playoffs... I'm worried about the Lions. If we can beat the lions, then maybe I'll load up a bowl of hopium.
Also, did ya'll see Derick Henry yesterday? The dude looked like he was 2 feet taller than every man on the field. It's ridiculous how dominating he is on the gridiron. I feel like we're watching what people in the 60s were watching when Jim Brown was running all over the league. It's amazing. And yes, I resepect Henry. Yulee High alumni. Wish he could have been a Jag. (11-28-2022, 11:06 AM)carp8dm Wrote: Dude, you're thinking about playoffs... I'm worried about the Lions. He ran for 3.1 YPC and under 70 yards yesterday We need to hold him to similar numbers twice bengals and Jags have nearly identical rush defense stats on the season in YPC and total yds allowed

Well if we beat the Lions this week and the Titans lose to the eagles (which honestly, should happen) Then we definitely will control our destiny.

The clots losing tonight would help as well (currently down 7 with 8 minutes to play). But one game at a time. The Lions' Defense absolutely stinks, but their Offense can move the ball and put up points. This game could be a shoot out. Caldwell departed from his typical toolbox to contain Lamar. First time we've seen him go so outside the box. Given his talent level available, he'll need to keep searching for ways to game plan each week to mitigate his defensive weaknesses. I know he wasn't ultimately successful in stopping yards gained by the ravens - but he did stifle Lamar's legs to a degree and the RZ defense made the difference in the game's outcome. Gotta see creativity on defense game plans moving forward until they can fill holes in talent gap.

Assuming you mean Travon - Yes, he needs to learn legit pass rush moves I'm looking at it like I looked at Lawrence. This time next year - he may be winning many more battles vs tackles (and guards)

A tall order but if anyone could get us to 5-1(We will not beat Dallas) it's Doug and his staff, we have no idea how he plans to attack the Titans. Trevor also may have finally turned a corner. So as long as he can string together games like yesterday, we will be in play vs Tennessee 2x. The Titans aren't looking so hot and Henry looks old, he's not playing well..
One week/game at a time... but it's nice to have some optimism and something to play for. The Lions aren't a pushover, especially at home. Titans could upset Philly but not likely. We gotta take care of bidness.
1996 at best, 4-13 at worst. That said the truth most likely somewhere in the middle. (but it does cost anything to dream)

Some debbie downers. We need a morgan freeman meme about hope! Realistically we aren't going on a run and threatening a division title. But in support of the title of this thread, it's not like we are technically alive but essentially done. Not as though we need to go 6-0 and have the titans go 0-6 or something crazy unrealistic. For the most part we do control our destiny. We're three games behind the Titans with two head to head matchups left. And in the 4 other games, we just need to be one better than the Titans. That's not unrealistic looking at both our schedules. If we do our part going 5-1 and beat the titans twice, we'll probably win the division.
Now I dont think we are consistent enough nor have enough playmakers on defense to go 5-1 the rest of the way. But if the team gets hot and makes a run, we could do it. And it feels fun that we are sitting here in December knowing if we play well the rest of the way we can make the playoffs. And we could be playing meaningful games late. While technically we don't have to beat the Lions, it does feel like a must win. Would crush the momentum from the Ravens game and don't want to have to win the last 5 in a row. Brutal schedule. Would be easier to beat the Lions and then split the games between cowboys/jets. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.
It's a one week season for the Jags. The only game that matters is the next one.
