Josh Oliver was motivated against us.

Before yesterday his best game of the year was 2 catches for 21 yards. He had 1 Td prior.

Yesterday he had 4 catches 76 yards and a TD. Must of been salty and motivated because we traded him.

Unless we injured him intentionally all those years, there was no reason for him to be salty for being let go. It was probably more about the Ravens being a TE centered offense and he picked up some slack from a still recovering Andrews.

Roman def got him involved. They left 4 points on the board by just barely not hitting him for that TD.
IIRC it was at his fingertips.

He was healthy coming into camp on a rookie contract.

He should have been granted that camp to show his worth. They had literally zero after him on the depth chart except a guy with similar injury history who had already peaked at mediocre.

On one hand I don't blame him but on the other hand it probably worked out better for him so he shouldn't be too upset. Hasnt been super productive for ravens though. Still odd to me that we gave up on him so early without a ton of talent on the team. As talked about a lot on here, we seem to give up on a lot of young guys still on rookie deals who go on to be solid contributors for other teams. We have this bad habit of missing on most first round picks while also giving up too early on later round draft picks who develop into cheap quality depth.

Fair point, I guess, but why take the chance that he's going to suddenly be healthy for a whole year? Or even 4 games of one? We haven't been any worse with Engram.

We HAD NO ONE at TE in 2021

That's when this happened. Under Meyer.

Ah, true. Memory fails. Since it was under Meyer, there probably wasn't any logic applied to the decision, based on how he was evaluating TE's.

Makes it worse that we gave Tebow a more legitimate shot at it than Oliver, kinda disgusting.

We had Tebow!
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

He hasn't exactly been lighting it up for the ravens either.

More than half of his yards for the entire season came yesterday. He also got more yards yesterday than he did in the 14 games he played last year.

Oliver only had 12 targets in 6 prior games whereas he had 6 targets yesterday. Not necessarily motivation but rather just getting an opportunity. Perhaps the Ravens saw something in our defense that had them focus on the TE targets yesterday. Mark Andrews usually gets all of the targets but yesterday he was targeted 7x versus 6x to Oliver.

I liked Oliver coming out of college. Had him in a few of my mocks that year. Surprised the team didn't really give him a chance here. Was high on Andrews as well. The TE position is my favorite position in this whole sport.

Baltimore loves and covets the TE position. They took like every [BLEEP] TE a lot of us wanted in the draft LOL. Charlie Kolar & Isaiah Likely. They took Badie out of Missouri at RB. Another guy I liked and mocked to us a few times.

More than likely they're preparing to move on from Andrews due to contract expectations. They have a potential out in 2024 with his contract. Guys like Oliver, Kolar and Likely can slowly develop while they try to figure out what to do with Jackson's contract situation as well.

Our TEs were only targeted once for a short gain yesterday. Doesn't matter who you have at the position if they aren't given an opportunity.

Exactly. We traded for Arnold on a Thursday and he was starting on the Sunday!

Same.

Darnell Washington would look REAL good in teal and black.

Poor Josh Oliver, missing out out that big 3-win season Jaguars last year and forced to play in 2022 for a team in playoff contention.

He must be distraught for the bad hand he was dealt.

Hes alright. Nothing special. The player I would like to have back is Ramsey on talent even though hes a douche. Uneek defense end is another good player that would have been nice to keep. Big tall Campbell is another one.

or must have been that they had two other TE unable to play that have been getting the majority of those reps

couldn't be that, tho. Every player in the NFL knows that when their number is called, they need to show up. They don't need any more motivation than that. Not like we did him dirty or anything, cripes, we sent him to a much better (at the time) team, saved him from a year of Urban blight, and apparently, put him somewhere he could develop into an actual TE. Yeah, I'd be p.o.'d too.
