My friend is a hardcore Steeler fan and loves this guy. Last season wwas his best with over 65 catches, 700+ yards, and 6 tds.  The guy has speed but just okay hands. AT 27 years old with a fair contract why not?

Well, its likely to happen.....usually when we bring players in, they sign here.

Him signing here doesn't stop us from drafting a WR. If anything this regime so far has shown that they will bring lots of players in for competition.

I think we need to be looking for that Terrell Owens or Vincent Jackson kind of skill set at this point. Thats what we are missing. A red zone target from the WR position. 

 

And that position is fine.  It's even one I'd support.  But we can and almost certainly will keep doing just that.  Maybe even sometime in May.  That doesn't mean you turn down a potential upgrade in March.

 

Meanwhile, if this guy can be productive for us, I really don't care if he skips down the field with the ball while accumulating his yards.  And really, you shouldn't either.

As for the Jags not passing on a WR in the draft because of the Em Sanders adddition....oh I dunno about that.....I do think it would make them feel they could pass on a Jordan Matthews (for example) if he's sitting there in the 2nd round at our pick, because they would feel they could wait till later to take a WR because they added Em Sanders....see what I mean? 

 

If a guy like Benjamin, Matthews or Adams is sitting at their pick, they should pounce. Not think, oh....well were okay because of the little guy we signed from pittsburgh, so we can wait until the 5th round to get a WR.

Probably alongside Shorts in the starting lineup.

 

If Blackmon returns at some point, Sanders can move seamlessly into the slot or remain on as the starter. That's all assuming that we don't draft Watkins and trade Blackmon the day he's reinstated.

He replaces Brown on the plays that are aimed downfield.  He'd be the fastest guy on the field very often.

Okay, your assertion that we'll have Blackmon back is one that seems pretty questionable immediately.  We have no idea if that's true, and even if it is, it's unlikely to occur before what, game 8/9?  And then for how long should I depend on him being back?

 

Aside from that, I don't know where he'll fit, but my first guess is on the 80 man roster to compete.  Where he fits after that will depend on how many WR they draft, how many they carry, and who wins out.  But if I had to pick only from the two you've listed, I'd say Brown could be the odd man out.  He's done an admirable job of progressing, but he still doesn't have the speed or double value with the return ability of Sanders.  And of course, it's even possible that Dave could have other trade possibilities in mind.

 

So yeah, I don't know the future man.  I do know that he's better than at least some of our current guys, and it's really not worth freaking out about getting a potential upgrade.

I wouldn't worry about that.  Since you think he'll only be good for bubble screens here anyway, you have to assume his drops will go down considerably.
