They have the best QB. The best WR. The best coach.

It's pretty incredible.

Looks like the best TE as well.

Not great news for future cap management, but very good news for our offense.
A second rounder is also tough to sacrifice, but I think most teams would give one up for three years of Calvin Ridley playing well.

Pretty sure this is one of those "good problems."

If he earns it.  We'll see.

If not, then I'd be looking for that WR in the early rounds you mentioned, only next year.

Cap room is its own capital.  Next year we will be looking @ a 29 year old receiver.  Let's say he racks in 1k yards and 8 tds.   A really good season!

It'll cost u 80 million with @ least the first two years effectively guaranteed to sign him.  @ a minimum.  It will also cost u a 2nd rounder.

If u let him walk, u lost out on a 5th rounder and a 3rd in 24. But u'll probably get a 3rd rd compensatory in 25.  So net u gave up the equivalent of a 5th in 23 and a 5th in 24 (the effective difference between the two third round picks factoring in time).  For a shot @ a 1.

I hope he's a 1 for 5 years an hes worth every penny.  When I heard 5th rounder I thought it was a no Brainerd.  Hearing all the conditions, factoring in his contract and his age I think that there's another side to the equation if ur just going to cross receiver off the board in the first three rounds.

At his age - he and his agent will take a deal with a two year out clause, just like Kirk did.
It'll just have a bit more guaranteed money than Kirk's did -  IF Ridley goes off in 2023.

I'm not worried about it at all.

If we gotta find 45 mil worth of guarantees to spread out over a couple of years to have an A+ receiver - we should absolutely find a way to do it. Losing a 2nd rounder stings a bit, but the price of doing business in this league usually does sting a bit.

You know what takes out that sting?

The lollipop you get after the shot.

You beat me to posting this link, lol. That was a helluva read. I like how honest and frank he is about the struggles he went through. He'll get the support from the locker room down here and being recommitted, baring injury of course, we're all going to be very happy about Mr. Ridley.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

How can you not root for the guy after that?

Played almost all of 2020 with a broken foot. Pain killers every Sunday. Still put up insane numbers.

So many good quotes in that article but the last line gives me the most hope.

"I know I have a debt to pay back to the game. But when y’all talk about the name Calvin Ridley in 10, 20, 30 years ... I’m gonna make sure it rings out for the right reasons. "

Yeah. Just read his whole story. Hard not to get choked up a bit. The part about him and his brothers getting thrown into foster care was hard. I am the oldest of three boys. I know that feeling where, if [BLEEP] is going south because Mom and Dad are not around or having their bouts. All eyes are on you.

Really, really, really, really pulling for him. I hope he lights the NFL on fire. I hope he does so much out there on and off the field that he gets primo come contract time. If he helps this city when it all? Man, what a great story that would be.

Such a good read. I can't wait to see him on the field for us. I'm really glad to see he's been able to pull himself out of that mental black hole he was in (even if he never played football again) because so many people can't.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

That was a great read. I like that he owned up to everything. No doubt that his early trauma effected him greatly and I'd be pulling for him even if he wasn't a Jaguar. Baalke took a relatively small risk in trading for him. It will be an exciting offense next season with Trevor's confidence sky-high and the addition of Ridley.

I am getting so stoked about this. The more I look at it, the more it looks like we somehow stole a pro-bowl receiver.

Would be pulling for this man to succeed even if he wasn't a Jaguar.

Here's hoping he makes a hit 2023 highlight film. We'll call it The Talented Mr. Ridley.

I can't with this team. I need to relax lol

Trevor being the leader and talking about how Calvin is a part of the family now. And then telling him how much he will like Zay and Kirk?! And Ridley playing with something to prove?! and THE TACKS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWFUL?!

Too much to handle.
