Bridgewater Pro Day

#61

Quote:If that's your logic you must not watch very much football. There was more than one play he chucked it up

He didn't "chuck it up" or throw "yolo" balls nearly as much as people say he does/did.

But it doesn't really matter he isn't worth a top 3 or top 10 pick either. And I am a huge Manziel fan.

I agree. You're throwing on air. It's pretty hard to look anything but good at a pro day.

With one of Clowney, Mack and Watkins being available to us at 3 I just cant see us drafting a QB in the first round. If Bortles has an impressive pro day in a couple of days then I think theres a good chance the Texans take him. Manziel will put on a show at his pro day, that is guaranteed, as thats how he plays. I think maybe Teddy just cracked under the expectation

The Teddy haters on this board are just ridiculous. Teddy was in a lose-lose situation before the day even began. I dont think anybody on this board ever said that Teddy has elite arm talent. What makes Teddy elite and worthy of the 3rd overall pick is his pocket presence, knowledge and understanding of defenses, coming from a pro-style system, and his accuracy with short to intermediate passing. An "average" pro day does nothing to his draft stock.

I assume he was throwing a NFL regulation sized ball? Maybe his hand size does matter.

Teddy is not an elite QB prospect. He is just the most pro-ready one of this draft class.

Those are two entirely different things.

lose lose situation? He had a lot to gain today, with a good pro day he couod of worked himself into a top 5 pick

looking at games where the pressure is on he excelled. So an underwear workout means nothing.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Agree and disagree. If he had "wowed" the observers on his pro day, he probably cements himself (in the mind of the media) as the #1 QB. Now it is up in the air. If Bortles comes out slinging at his pro day, the narrative will change.

As far as the minds of NFL teams, we reallt don't know.

More like top 11-15 talent at best. The pro day didn't hurt him in the mind of the teams.

It is only going to hurt him in the minds of the media.

I really don't think it has a huge impact on NFL teams. I think these huges jumps and slides are more within the draft media than on team boards themselves.

Why is teddy not an elite prospect? Because he's not 6'5 with a rocket arm?

Elite qbs: manning, Rodgers, Brady, brees. What do they all have in common? Accuracy, high football iq, and pocket presence. All traits teddy bridgewater certainly has.

Games where he faced significant pressure and blitzes, he did well.

Bortles also did well in that regard. Almost same percentage complete vs blitz and vs pressure.

Just an interesting tidbit.

Doesn't mean he doesn't need time to develop in the NFL. I am just saying he is not an elite prospect. He is not Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan, etc.

Brady and Rodgers both took time to develop. I am just saying all these QBs will need time. They are not true first day starters.

What did he have to gain? He was unanimously known as the number one qb prospect in the draft and a top 8 pick. Today changed nothing in the eyes of gms who actually know what they are doing.

I like Bridgewater. But the same was said about Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford and guys who ended up average.

And Matt Leinart as I posted yesterday:

Quote:<div>
I get it your in love positives your QB

Pros:

One of the most NFL-ready prospects to ever enter the draft. Has played brilliantly in big games and against top competition throughout his college career. Solid NFL arm strength and terrific accuracy. Very refined throwing mechanics. Mobile within the pocket. Tremendous leadership skills and a very positive attitude. Very bright and willing to put in however much work it takes to succeed. The kind of guy teams want as "the face of the franchise."

Overall:

All things considered, he is an elite-level quarterback prospect. His game experience, leadership ability, and NFL skill-set are a combination unmatched by any other quarterback in this draft, or in most others. He has a good chance to be able to not only start immediately, but play decently as a rookie. A prototypical NFL quarterback who at the very least, will be a very good player at the next level.
