Ed Dickson

Quote:Stinks. Why are we doing this? If this causes us to pass on Troy Niklas in the draft, I'll be ticked off.

You don't have to try and make every thread about you.

We're talking about Ed Dickson. A guy who could be qualified as a draft bust. A guy who probably is going to get a one year "prove it" type deal.

The threads not about me. Its about Dickson, and what that signing could/ would mean to future moves at the position in the offseason. Your problem is you fail to connect the dots with our FA strategy. Every move we make in the offseason/ FA here is helping to give you a clue as to what our draft plan will be, per what positions we don't add as a FA.

Go back to previous posts. I connected the dots just fine.

You know this potential signing is weak when posters on here are pretty much universally in agreement negatively on it.

Quote:Camp guy, little chance he makes the team.

If they sign him to a contract, I'd bet his 2014 roster spot would be fairly safe barring injury.

Why?

I never thought if the Jags sign him that he'd be an all-pro addition.  Just experienced depth with the possibility that he might break out here.

If the Ravens also offered him a contract, why in the world would he sign here? Stable QB over there over Henne or a rookie?

And it's not like he could even start here.

Now, I'd be okay with signing him and then trading Marcedes....then drafting a TE

Yes. Lets downgrade the position. Great idea.

It's not a silly question considering I doubt we are offering him a huge contract.

Downgrade? Debatable. Dickson in 2011 (when he was the starter) produced similarly to the standard Marcedes Lewis season.

We'd just be paying a more suitable contract for the  production, now.

I wonder if Caldwell is considering a Marcedes trade, with a potential Dickson signing?

He has 111 rec for 1,178 yards and 7 tds in 3 years, and people claiming he sucks? for a backup TE those are solid numbers, if he signed here he would be our 3rd TE going into camp, plz explain what is bad about that? Adding a guy with some experience is never bad, are we trying to pay him 5 yeards 50 mil? Otherwise plz stop the stupidity

I see CatAttack78 gets it

It's not debatable. Marcedes is alot better player. It's debatable if Dickson is an upgrade over Clay Harbor.

If Clay Harbor was the TE1, he'd probably put up numbers similar to the standard Marcedes Lewis season.

Dickson has already done that. In reality, all 3 are pretty much similarly producing TE's pending equal snaps. Hence the idea to draft Ebron/ Niklas.

Lifestyle.  It's easier here.  Much more relaxing then chasing a SB in Baltimore.
