Manziel trick-shot video(pretty darn impressive)

(This post was last modified: 03-18-2014, 10:28 AM by JohnnyJaguar.)

This is an oldish video, but I'm sure a few people on these boards have never seen it.

A little background first: a group called "Dude Perfect" go around doing all kinds of sports trick shots. They got together with Manziel at Kyle field one afternoon and the results were dam pretty epic.

Doesn't really mean anything of course, just a fun 'trick video'. Kid can certainly sling a pigskin tho.

If nothing else, just check out the shot at 4.15.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Johnny McEntee is a senior at UConn. He never showed enough on the field to win a staring spot on a team with a dreadful history of QBs.

Manziel should just show this video and stand next to it for his Pro Day.  I bet the scouts will be hella impressed.

1)  Not exactly a beautiful spiral.

2)  How many "takes" did it take?

3)  Could he do it with Clowney coming after him?

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

1) If he's throwing it 60+ yards it probably won't be a perfect spiral

2) We will never know

3) How many QBs can do that without any passrush?

1)  Why not?  A spiral is generated by the release and rotation on the ball; it has nothing to do with the force of the throw.

2)  Funny how you never see video of trick shots that missed, isn't it?

3)  Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Manning,  Kapernick,, Wilson, Luck, Rivers, Romo, Cutler, etc,,,,........probably even Gabbert.

1) Over time (distance) a ball will lose its spiral as the rotation slows down. Its simple physics and not debatable.

2) I know right!

3) I doubt Gabbert could do it because some of these throws require deep accuracy. Something he lacked. But if we are to include former Jaguars I bet Leftwich probably could.

1)  The decrease in rate of rotation due to air friction is minimal and will not affect the flight pattern of a well thrown ball.  A nice spiral does not suddenly become wobbly in mid-flight.  Manziel's ball looked like a pigeon with a broken wing as soon as it was released (The spin imparted was not aligned around the long symmetry axis of the football; the more the angle of rotation is out of alignment, the greater the wobble).

2)  Sometimes the out-takes are the best part.

3)   LOL.  Gabbert lacked so many things how can I be expected to remember them all?  Byron did have a strong arm, too bad he ran like a cow on crutches.
