Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

The coaches aren't calling what they want as they don't have the time for deep plays to develop so everything is short which makes us easy to play against. Lawrence is expecting pressure or to be hit every play as he's basically getting hit every play. Any QB will start rushing reads or rushing passes in that scenario.

It's on the coaches to find a way to get this Oline to be able to do something. They aren't suddenly going to be a top unit but a way to help them be it rollouts, screens, draws. Just something that helps them start winning and giving us a chance to get the O going.

What are the actual stats? How are we ranked?

Stats? Just use your damn eyes. He got sacked by 5 Chiefs players on one play last week.

I'm not ready to make him the highest paid player in the league.

He still has a lot to prove to earn that 6 figure contract. I thought he was on  his way but the start to this season is discouraging.

Guys the only reason we aren’t getting 5 plus sacks a game is because of Trevor getting rid of the ball quickly and most of the time he is completing passes . Period end of story. Last year at this time he was holding on to the ball taking sacks or throwing stupid ints especially in the red zone … this year ball is out of his hands with a rush around him and he has not put the ball in harms way 99percent of the time .

Compared to the Giants our offensive line is world class.

I'm asking for objective measurements.

So you think the Oline is fine right now?

What year you living in that he'll get just 6 figures?

It’s good to look at the big picture. Trevor has started 39 games including the playoffs.

I think he’s had elite performances about 5 times in his career.

He had a nice little stretch of good play last year but regressed to his average in the last 3-5 games of the year. Luckily for us the defense and the rest of the team was playing well then so we kept winning.

But he’s a young promising qb with lots of ability but right now isn’t near elite I’m afraid.
Three games into the season he’s playing below average and we’re 1-2.
By no means am I saying he’s the sole reason we are 1-2. But he’s playing his part just like the coaches, the line, and the receivers. I’m curious to see how he bounces back.

I think the jags need a healthy zay Jones and I think they need to drop Ridley for a while. He’s not playing well and is overall hurting the team. Ridley has been getting too many targets. Removing him from the equation will improve Trevor’s play IMO.

It will force us to be more creative and more unpredictable. Just my 2c.

This isn't the same offense as last year. I don't care whatever else people say.

But the entire philosophy, the play calling, the passion of the players to make a play...

There's nothing about this offense that looks anything like what we experienced last year. If Pederson can't figure it out, he needs to get fired. What we just watched today and last week is unacceptable for a team that performed so well last year. And we didn't even lose any pieces, we gained pieces!!!

Naw, man, it's time to just accept the fact that either Pederson is willing to exert energy to be the HC, or if we want's to continue the Press Taylor experiment, that either Press if fired or they both go.

This game was the most pathetic experience I've ever had as a Jaguar fan. Yeah, there were other games that sucked. But there was never a game where we had this much talent and absolutely looked like a garbage team. There was no life, no passion. Ridley? Bench him. Kirk is the #1 WR. Zay Jones is the #2. And Engram? Did they forget he was on the team????

What the hell are the coaches doing??? I've seen Jagauar coaching staffs try to make the best with bums. I've never seen a Jaguar coaching staff take a team with real talent and make them into bums...

And that's what we are watching happen right now.

Nonsense, the coaches don't make the plays. If those catches are made the last two games then we're 3-0 and you have nothing but good things to say about those coaches.

The way the league is structured now, a team's success squarely and largely falls on the QB.

Except in Jacksonville. It's never Trev's fault. The receivers had too many drops. The coaches are inept. The OL is bad again this year. The excuses just go on and on and on endlessly.

Meanwhile Minshew is 2-0 with that mess up in Indy. Lord help he doesn't start down here in two weeks and depants Goldilocks in front of the home fans (and my money would be heavily on that he would) and really set tjings ablaze.

Keep chanting "Trevor. Trevor. MVP!" tbough, guys. He'll get there someday.

Orrr you could respond about the actual content of the post.

Guys, I haven’t seen anyone say let’s throw Trevor to the wolves or cut him. Or even that he can’t be great. Just that he’s not great yet, and he needs to improve.  So do a lot of other position groups. We have to give him time and build around him. I think the offensive line isn’t good enough. But Trevor is not above criticism. Nobody is.

The drama is gonna be fantastic if this trainwreck continues and we end up with the #1 overall pick.

Draft Caleb Williams? Or trade that pick for the farm?

I suppose you mean because Caleb Williams' dad alrady talked about how unfair the draft is.

He isn't coming to Jacksonville even if we have the #1 pick. Forget it.

Wouldn't want Caleb even if we didn't have Trevor. Drama queen won't be the player he thinks (or his dad thinks) he will be.
