He's gonna be cut. Cam, if he continues to perform should be kept for at least another year. As for the Defense... Man, we have so many ballers. We're gonna have to pay some of them and maybe let some go. But I don't think that's anything we need to worry about for another couple years. We show less advertisements to registered users. Scherff and Jenkins should be easy decisions to cut due to salary cap savings. Both can be replaced without much (if any) drop-off in talent. The tough decision will be what to do with Cam Robinson. If the team continues to have confidence in Walker Little, it just makes sense to release Robinson- even though he has been playing well since his return. The savings in cap money will enable them to pay Lawrence, Ridley, Allen and Cleveland. While Lawrence and Allen are obvious, Ridley is too good to be let go despite having a slightly disappointing season. Also, Zay Jones' seems somewhat injury prone. In Cleveland's situation, the only concern is that he may want to sign elsewhere as a tackle for more money. Hopefully, Raucher and Pederson can get him to extend his current contract as he is only 25 with several good years left.
My plan would be to start negotiating with Josh Allen the day after the season ends. Hopefully, they can agree to a long term deal. You then franchise tag Ridley, hopefully negotiate an extension, but don't sign it until the day after the draft so we only have to give up a 3rd round pick instead of the 2nd. If Josh Allen really plays hard ball, we can franchise tag him. He's more valuable than Ridley, but I think we should be able to keep both. We also should extend Lawrence and try to re-sign as many of the free agents as we can starting with Cleveland and McManus.
We'll have to see how contract negotiations play out, but I don't think this is impossible. According to Spotrac, the Jaguars are projected to be $22.3 million under the cap next year. If we cut Cam Robinson, we save another $17.75 million. That puts us $40 million under the cap. We can restructure or extend other contracts to save additional money. Keep in mind that when you sign a player, the first year's cap hit is typically fairly small. The player is happy with a large signing bonus and therefore can keep their first year salary and therefore the salary cap hit low. If we need extra money, it's Scherff. We have two options. If we cut him pre-June 1st, we save $9 million of cap space this year and another $7 million the following year. Alternatively, we could make him a post-June 1st cut and we would save $16 million this year, although we would be pushing some cap space into the following year. Of course, if we cut Scherff, we would have to find a replacement. Assuming we could lock up our major players, we could use our first two picks in the draft on a pass rusher and a center. Although we would lose our third rounder because of Ridley, most expect us to receive a 3rd round comp pick for Taylor. We already have an extra 4th and 6th round picks and likely will receive another Day 3 compensatory pick for Arden Key. Those picks can be used on depth and roll players. If we did this, we would have an excellent team next year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I don’t think I’d pay Ridley if the season ended today. I’m hoping they get a contract done with Allen quick so they can deploy the tag on Rid.
If we apply the franchise tag to Ridley does that give the Falcons our second round pick?
Currently, I wouldn't give up Ridley for a second rounder. I want that pick.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude. Next season I want him gone. (11-03-2023, 08:33 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:(11-03-2023, 07:45 PM)carp8dm Wrote: I agree with most of what you say... Ridley wasn't picked up to get the ball every play.... But to have teams try to double team him which leaves other receivers open... if you have a wide receiver that's a threat It takes the attention off of other wide receivers.... Ridley is a threat I would absolutely sign him again Ridley has helped us win multiple games people don't realize that he's a threat...he takes defenders off of other wide receivers .. He might not be getting the ball all the time but teams respect him and they have to cover him
I’m pretty sure he will hit that 60% of plays threshold.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.

As a Clemson fan I'm hoping Ridley gets let go and somehow trade for or sign Tee Higgins in FA.
Trevor to Tee was amazing to watch (25 TDs in two years)

I'd tell Ridley he'll have the chance to sign a market rate extension after the season, but he's not getting his stats this year -- that's all there is to it. Make sure he plays under 60% of snaps -- not playing obvious running downs, when there's a 2 touchdown lead, not playing any games after the division is clinched, etc. Set him loose in the playoffs after the trade stipulations don't apply. What's in it for him? The chance to continue playing on a winning team with an ascending young QB. No state income tax.

Ridley has been very underwhelming. But it should have been expected with how long he's been away from the game. Hopefully he kicks it into another gear the second half of the season.

Trevor is getting the ball out so quickly, there's not a whole lot of time to let a pass pattern develop. He's on pace to catch 70 passes for just under 1,000 yards, so it's not bad.

But people on here thinking Ridley isn't worthy of a 2nd/extension I think are delusional. He's the sole reason we beat Buffalo. He's been fine. All of us expecting 1400 yards and double digit tds were wishful thinking as it was, our passing game is definitely better with him
