Ridley

Ridley wasn't picked up to get the ball every play.... But to have teams try to double team him which leaves other receivers open... if you have a wide receiver that's a threat It takes the attention off of other wide receivers.... Ridley is a threat I would absolutely sign him again

Ridley has helped us win multiple games people don't realize that he's a threat...he takes defenders off of other wide receivers .. He might not be getting the ball all the time but teams respect him and they have to cover him

I absolutely understand that and would retain him in a vacuum. Is that impact worth 20+mil a year? That’s what I question.

Currently, I wouldn't give up Ridley for a second rounder.  I want that pick.

I posted this before. we have to sign IN-SEASON for it to be a 2nd rounder. after the season it is still a 3rd or 4th.  Now what exactly does in season mean?  Is it the regular season? maybe after the Super Bowl? I feel if it were the league year it would say that.

[*]Trade Conditions
4th Round Pick conveys to a 3rd with:
60% snaps OR
75 receptions OR
1,000 receiving yards
[*]Pick conveys to a 2nd rounder if an in-season extension is signed
[*]
what's the source on that detail? everywhere I've read it's just conveyed if we sign him. (Edit, nevermind, read Spotrac's info)

I guess the argument is that after this season, it's an FA contract and not an extension?

Trevor to Tee was amazing to watch (25 TDs in two years)

If we let Ridley go I highly doubt we're spending big on WR regardless of where they played school 4-5 years ago

Exactly. If he were the only option, we'd be force feeding him a lot more. If his presence is getting guys like Engram or Kirk open and they are getting the stats, he's still producing, just not in a way that shows up on a superficial stat sheet. Is that impact worth breaking the bank over? I don't know.

Is he the type that will refuse a higher offer from a terrible team to stay here and chase a ring for less? I also don't know.

I like him, and hope he sticks around, but do I want to keep him at the expense of having to gut the rest of the receiving corps, or sacrifice talent at other positions? Not really.

He's still got time to change minds in that respect. Gonna be a fun ride while we figure it out.

I'm all for keeping Ridley. As has been said, his value isn't limited to his stat line. He opens things up for Kirk and Zay Jones as well as Engram. We also can't ignore the fact that the team's current offensive MVP, Travis Etienne, benefits by going against defenses that can't put eight men in the box.

It's a hope, not a prediction! Fun to dream. Would be Jags best WR in quite sometime and TL/Travis/Tee was special

Reunited QBs and wrs is good and effective. Look at the other examples of that.

I'm taking Ridley over Higgins

If he wants a fair deal, fine. If he wants a monster contract then no way.

Yeah, that would be preferable.

Worked for the Raiders this year...  Didn't they reunite Fresno State team mates?

Based on only what we’ve seen, and I’m hoping he balls out in the second half of the season, we can get a speed receiver in the draft to be a decoy as Calvin primarily has been.

Keeping him may depend on the future health/ availability of Zay Jones.

It worked with the bangles and the dolphins. Nothing works with the raiders since the 70’s so don’t even try that.

Just keep moving the chains and big things will happen. We need all of our receivers healthy and out there though over the course of the game to open things up for each other.

He is opening things up because defenses are treating him like a threat he hasn't been this year. Once defenses stop doing that and realize he's running poor routes and struggles to be consistent then he will stop being a decoy. I'm not saying we should flat get rid of him but if he wants top dollar he needs to show top dollar production which he isn't close do doing right now.

It almost seems like Zay is more important than Ridley. There were reports earlier in the year he frequently ran the wrong routes too

I believe it was on Twitter, not saying he was but it was on the twitter rumor mill.
