Whoa...

He's had two back surgeries and been vocal about lost playing time, so not all that shocking that they moved on.

Just odd timing though. Even with limited repetitions. They're still technically in the hunt. This gives him a chance to hop on with a play-off ready team in our conference or the other conference. He's a shell of his former self of course but you never know with these guys. Might have a Bob Sanders effect on a defense.

They saw his injury history as a risk for his "guaranteed only for injury" 2024 salary.  They felt the risk was too great that he might get injured in what's left of this season and that the injury would carry him into that guaranteed salary next season.  Ari explains that the contract as written will likely lead to him clearing waivers. Makes perfect sense in that light.

Did we watch the same colts game a few weeks ago? I don't recall any significant plays from him.

If he had something let in the tank they're have just kept him.

It sounds like you haven't read anything on why he was released.  I guess we'll see how it plays out.  I don't have a vested interest in the outcome, the reason given makes sense to me though.

If he were playing well they wouldn't be worried about being on the hook for his salary next year, they'd be glad to have a great player on the field right now and possibly next year. It's the fact that he's not playing well that makes them not want to take the chance on guaranteeing such with a big salary for a bad (or unable to overcome injuries) player.

Like I said, we'll see how it plays out.  If a contending team picks him up and starts him relatively quickly, I guess your fact may turn out to be opinion.

Sure, I'd be shocked if he goes to a contending team and starts, but I wouldn't be shocked if he gets picked up by a lesser team on an incentive laden deal that doesn't leave the team signing him in much danger if he continues to have no impact.

When he was healthy, he was the Colts Oluokun.

Back problems are no joke. (if that’s part of the problem)

He was really good for a while. He’s visiting the cowboys and the eagles.
