Quote:If Clowney is a Texan in a few weeks, and a couple other so called premium pass rush specialists land in Indy and Nashville, you've got them covered; all tied up in a bow with Austin Pasztor?

If Austin Pasztor can do that, you just degraded Clowney and Mack and all the rest of the 2014 premium pass rush specialist models to nothing. As benign as you make them out to be under the rule of Czar Pasztor, you inadvertently point out their complete uselessness to the Jaguars as players.

Fifty sacks in 2012. Fifty sacks in 2013. Pasztor, had no impact whatsoever last year like a talented offensive tackle can.

This crisis at offensive line only seems to creep up when it's time to give account for what did happen, rather than what didn't happen. What didn't happen was superior pass protection. What didn't happen was a superior power rushing attack.

We're all good at draft time. Nope. Don't want a second elite offensive tackle. Offensive lineman are a dime a dozen. They all look the same to me.

I didn't start this thread. It appears to have been designed to slip a fast one in on Lewan.

I see he's hip on the Khan mustache brand. Do you believe in destiny?

Maybe you should find the December 5th game against them. You know the one where JJ Watt was stonewalled by Pasztor and held to 3 tackles and 0 sacks. Houston as a team recorded a whopping 1 sack the entire game.

That would be cherry-picking. Why not embrace all fifty?

Just one more great-big, happy group hug..

Caused by our interior line, not our tackles most of the time..

In Tom Brady's first year, he was sacked 41 times.  A sack percentage of 9%, which is higher than the sack percentage for Henne this year.  In that same year, Tom Brady won the Super Bowl.

Aaron Rodgers was sacked 52 times in 2012 -- more than Chad Henne -- and he still managed an 11-5 record.

Moving down the chain...

Ryan Tannehill was sacked 58 times last year, and still managed an 8-8 record.  Joe Flacco 48 times, and the same.

On the other side: Brandon Weeden was sacked only 28 times his first year.  That didn't seem to help him any.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:There will be legitimate star pass rushers at that pick and dependent on who you ask a couple of franchise QBs.  If we pick a Tackle (even in a trade down), Dave loses all credibility.
There are no obvious franchise qbs in this draft.

I even went out of my way to specify "dependent on who you ask".  Sub in Watkins if you prefer.  No reason to turn another thread into the same debate.

Bjoern Werner and Robert Mathis (seen in the group hug photo) are Indy Colts' defensive ends.

I cant believe anyone that remotely follows the Jaguars would think for a second that they'd take an OT in the first round.

It absolutely will not happen.

The only positions undecided on the oline are RG and C.

Frenchie is the starting RT and he played very well against JJ Watt last season. He's a solid RT who may turn out to be a very good RT.

Lets find out.

Picking another tackle early would be a very, very poor strategy in fielding a more competitive team this season.

I would be for taking a tackle to upgrade Pasztor, but not in the first.

50 sacks per year are just the leading edge of our offensive line deficiencies. Count the TOTAL number of plays wasted by the lack of superior pass protection and get back to me. Throws out of bounds. One or two yard scrambles to avoid a sack. Batted down passes.

More denial. Monroe was top ten, ya know? Laughing  Laughing

Let's stack the new impact players over there on top of last year's impact players. Seem to have a lot of picks tied up on impact players here? Maybe we need more IMPACT players. Explosive impact players. Real explosive impact players this time. Keep trying. We will identify the explosive impact players and load the boat with 'em!

Dynasty!

Whatever, dude.

I'd be fine with taking a tackle.  I like a team with a good o line.

You'd be fine with us taking a position we don't need? Whilst we have issues elsewhere on the O line and all across the team? You want us to take a Tackle when Paztor was ranked top 5 in RTs last year and Joeckel is clearly going to play LT?

Kidding me?

Nope not kidding.  I enjoy watching a team with a good o line.  With how much this message board complains about the Jag's oline I am a little surprised by the hypocrisy.

All I am saying is if they take one I won't mind it.  No need to start crying about it.  I mean good grief.
