True and it's a nice thought. The 2017 D was amazing but looking back, they had the swagger but once things started to unravel, it went fast 

What I like about this current team is they have had to fight and earn every win. Theyve had nothing easy and they do things the hard way. They have a great mentality and seems a real connection throughout the team.

Yesterday I thought I'd find some old Bortles era Jags highlights on YouTube ( yes we do get YouTube here!!).

I forgot the fear for those 2 seconds once the ball left his hand, wondering where it would go. The camera panning up the field was almost horror movie levels of suspense. 

Watching Trevor, it's so easy and so quickly you see just how good he is. So much natural talent and has such a great QB mindset. Never gets too high, never too low. I just feel so lucky to spend the next 15 seasons watching him play for us and knowing we won't be searching for a Lawrence for some time. We know how hard that can be.

With Trevor, it’s watching him throw darts you are SURE are gonna be picked off, and then you see the replay and it is just PRECISE where only our guy can catch it.

Side note: if he cracks 4K passing yards this season he will be the ONLY QB in franchise history with multiple 4K seasons. (Brunell and Bortles have on each).

His motion lately looks like he's not really throwing it, but mostly guiding it...  His delivery over the last couple games look like he's not really throwing the ball, but trying to place it...  His elbow at times seems to extend away from his body when he's trying to loft the ball...

He learned 7 or 8 different pro offenses during his career as a backup and it shows. 
Doug/Press/16/0/7/13/17 are out there playing chess, not checkers. 

So glad this offense is heating up as we turn toward December football.

The 7:00 minute mark. Watch Strange on that play. GOOD GOD. He took a LB out of the play by pancaking him completely, then, he got downfield and out raced Farrell to get him another lead block to get him even more yards. That warmed my heart to see that. Atta' [BLEEP] boy rook!

Man, it is so cool having a QB like this and the coach to go along with him.

This is what I think makes the real difference. Just look around the league at some of the other top QB's. Allen is up and down in Buffalo, Herbert is playing well but the Chargers aren't playing anywhere near their potential. Then look at someone like Purdy who looks great and he plays in Shanahan's genius O system.

It's not just the HC or the QB but when you get both, and the QB fits the HC scheme and the HC plays to the QB's strengths, you see those teams be successful.

He's learning, the TE position is one of if not the most difficult to get, and he's only part time since Engram and Farrell are ahead of him. Give it another season and I think he's going to be really good.

JT is excellent, he's a little too sugar coat for me sometimes with the higher prospects, but he 100% is a QB film guru. Lots to learn from him if you want to know anything about QB at any level. The nuance that goes into NFL QB is insane, he does a wonderful job explaining everything you're looking at in his videos. 10/10

I agree, but I think the way you describe him is part of his talent, and why he will succeed for a long time.  He doesn't flip out or get his feelings hurt, he has a permanent self confidence and self-awareness, and he knows he's great.  He doesn't need to say anything; he just carries on quietly with complete self-assurance.  It's why he can throw 4 interceptions and follow it up with 4 touchdown passes in the same game.     

And I also think something he said in the pre-draft process is important.  He said football is not everything in life.  This is what he said:  

"I am secure in who I am, and what I believe. I don’t need football to make me feel worthy as a person.  I purely love the game and everything that comes with it. The work, the team, the ups and downs. I am a firm believer in the fact that there is a plan for my life and I’m called to be the best I can be at whatever I am doing."

That's a guy who can go through the Urban Meyer experience and come out unscathed.  Very few rookie QBs could have survived that with their confidence intact.  

In spite of the fact that most commentators seem to think he's a star, and a good or really great player, I still think he's underappreciated outside of Jacksonville, especially in terms of the very strong intangible qualities he brings to the team and the franchise.
