I've been so positive and optimistic all year but this has really rattled me. You knew it was bad as soon as Lawrence threw his helmet off. He's damn tough. It also felt like the frustration of being behind this Oline how much he's been hit and how many times we've dodged this bullet this season coming out.
The season isn't over. We're still in a good spot and our destiny is in our hands. It's going to take a huge team effort to keep us in this until/if Trevor comes back. I hope this can be a rallying moment for the team for the next few games but it's going to be tough. Just don't want to see such a good season crumble quickly. And can we find whatever stuff the Chiefs gave Mahomes in the playoffs when he had the ankle sprain? Jags get trounced by Detroit and Trevor looks to be out for year.... Follow it up with a run to the playoffs. Trevor throws 4 picks in the 1st half against LAC.... Come back to win. Jags get absolutely obliterated by SF.... Follow it up with back to back wins against division rivals. I expect the defense to come out firing on all cylinders Sunday because they know it's on their shoulders now. Your absolutely right. That's the main characteristic of this team. They fight and boy do we need it now. This locker room loves Trevor and if there's a chance he could be back I can see that being a motivator for the team to keep us alive. I think we'll see a reaction from this team on Sunday. I hope Doug can find a gameplan that helps Beathard. Doug has done a great job making things easier for the QB and we don't need Beathard to be Lawrence. Just move the ball and use the weapons we have. Last night was a bad night in a lot of ways but it doesn't need to be a season ending loss. We're still 8-4. We all thought the season was over last night. It looked so bad.
The fact they haven't ruled him out for Sunday is a miracle. Seems like the Jags dodged a bullet.
Is high ankle less recovery?
It sounds like garrard's sprain in 2007. Only missed 3 weeks (12-05-2023, 01:41 PM)Cleatwood Wrote: We all thought the season was over last night. It looked so bad. He's tough as nails. He could probably suck it up and play this Sunday if he wanted to. But, they need to let him rest I think. I wouldn't rush him out there against Baltimore though. That's a tough pass rushing unit, best in the NFL at the moment. Just asking for trouble. Suck it up these next two weeks with Beathard, let the chips fall where they may. If we drop to 8 - 6? It is what it is. Just let Lawrence come back in after two weeks and try and finish out the year with a three easier contests on paper to get through. Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in our playoff game last year and didn’t miss a beat the next game. A little less mobile but that’s it.
I think he’ll be back for the Ravens

I mean, you can play through that as a QB, but, the question is, do you risk it that early? I can understand a play-off game. That's do or die. Win or go home. In this case? There's five games left. Do you really risk aggravating his ankle sprain further after just two weeks of rest? Against that defense? With that pass rush? With this offensive line? On Sunday Night Football with them fighting Miami for the one seed? I don't think you do. I think you suck it up these next two weeks. Dog them out. Let this team get a feel for what it's like without Lawrence out there on offense. Let the defense figure it out with their backs against the wall. Let this offensive line figure it out with the running game without Lawrence. Let some of these other guys get a feel for the game. I think you keep Lawrence sidelined until he's able to at least plant, set and throw comfortably. Rushing him back out there is foolish. If we’re tied up record wise or either of them are at 9 wins and we’re still at 8, I don’t think you can keep him off the field

I think they let him rest until probably week 16. Regardless of what the other two teams are doing. Putting the cart before the horse is a bad idea this late in the year. If you have a shot at the play-off's, whether it's as a divisional winner or wildcard spot, be content with that. This team plays better on the road to begin with. Not sure I would be excited about them having any time off or being here at home just based on what the record shows. Maybe they'll start winning at home once the new stadium is up and running. Who knows. (12-05-2023, 01:57 PM)Jaguarmeister Wrote: He's tough. If he can go, he'll go. He could probably go this Sunday. The question is whether or not that's optimal. Based on how different the offense played, and, in particular, how HE played after the knee injury and after it began to get better? Having him less than 75% or lower with his mobility and ability to throw on the run is not worth the gamble. Especially against Cleveland and Baltimore. Just asking for trouble man. I am telling you. Hear me now, believe me later. He's better off sitting out these next two games and getting ready for the final three to push for an 11 - 6 record if they drop these next two on the schedule. Time for Doug, Press and Mike to earn their salt as coaches. "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Even before his injury. You could tell Lawrence was getting pissed off at times last night with some of the pre snap situations and issues that were cropping up. I hope he becomes more vocal going forward. I like seeing that in a QB. Fire in the belly. Unbridled rage at times directed at people not doing their [BLEEP] jobs is necessary.

Shows how much he cares and shows he’s starting to become a man And not take any sh1t, we forget he’s super young 24. |
