Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

However, we think Lawrence would have done really well in SF because his development timeline would have been faster and better quality because he wouldn't have had to take a bad O line into consideration during development. The Jags organization, in many ways, impeded Lawrence's development. Purdy would be a bloody ruined mess by now behind our line. Everyone has learned one thing about Mahomes, he's whiny when things don't go his way. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Yeah, Lawrence would have gotten professional-level coaching and a run game in SF. He would flourish. Purdy would be a beaten to hell former Mr. Irrelevant and would be completely irrelevant in Jacksonville, but carry on.

We could probably find 13 different NFL franchise scenarios that would have played better for Lawrence than starting out with Urban Meyer and then moving to a better staff with an incompetent OL. It's a recipe for disaster that he's been hard pressed to find any success in.

I think the 98 Jags linemen could whip this group tomorrow. Well, in year 3 Brunell was a back up who took over for the starter. He didn't peak for a few more seasons after that. Lawrence will end up the better QB by far so long as the moron in the GM chair fixes the line problem. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

You know how new users have to have their first few posts approved before everyone sees them? Make a troll user class and put all the people that wait for Trevor to have a bad day into it, and if they only show up to post that stuff go ahead and flush it. Then they won't get their weird satisfaction from posting troll stuff. If they want to talk actual football at other times for an extended period they can leave the troll hole, but for most you and the other mods can laugh at them as they fail to get the attention they crave. Seconded. https://www.reddit.com/r/Jaguars/comment...o_awkward/ Doesn’t absolve Trevor of blame but indicates two things 1. These clowns really think Trevor should be putting monster stats and is the problem, have no idea how bad it is around him these past few games 2. Trevor shouldn’t have started. He didn’t practice. That’s not to say he could easily hand wave these receivers into getting it, but practice helps people be on the same page (12-26-2023, 03:02 PM)SamusAranX Wrote:Hand signals to change the play for backup WRs with a QB who hasn't practiced with them?(12-26-2023, 02:47 PM)SeldomRite Wrote: I'd like to suggest a new user class for the message board. Who would have thought something bad could happen? These coaches continue to not adjust to the players on the field. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Assuming we miss the playoffs, there will be sacrificial lamb cuts amongst the coaching staff. Have to think Chad Hall would be near the top if not the very top. No idea if it's his fault we've had so much miscommunication by Wrs leading to INTs but someone needs to be held accountable for it. Have to think Rauscher is an obvious choice as well. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. Going to have to let him fight through whatever he has going on physically and mentally. And its on him to figure it out.
Its on him to call his oline together and do film work till 11 PM on a zoom call Its on him to get a couple hours with the WRs after practice and hammer out the timing and comms Its on him to get his intensity and focus level up Its on him to engage every single player on that team and help them get their intensity and focus level up Whatever he and the team are doing, its not enough. In his own words, they dont look like they are even practicing.

If it is rookies/backups - it is less of a concern but still a concern. Regarding Rauscher - for all we as fans know - he may be in coaching meetings screaming and pleading for a new scheme and roster additions. So it's pretty tough from our perspective to pin it on him. He's definitely not getting acceptable results from what he has available right now though. Gotta weigh that out. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
If we're talking about coaches getting fired the first on the list should be Caldwell. His defense is getting worse, not better.

Really all of our coaches suck right now. Let the new GM decide who he wants to keep and if Doug isnt able to work with him he can go too. It’s not to say that Trevor doesn’t have the capacity to exceed Brunell at some point, he does but it hasn’t happened yet. He does have the potential for that and I hope for the sake of the franchise that he surpasses Brunell by a large margin. And improved line will help Lawrence and the run game both. It’s been our Achilles’ Heel lately,
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Im saying when we get a new GM, let him decide if he wants to keep Doug. I think If Doug tells the new GM that he wants to keep Press and that Press will remain the play caller along with keeping Caldwell, Rauscher etc. that the new GM will go a different route. This is exactly what happened in Philly I just didnt think it would happen this soon. I dont see Doug making any changes at season end. To answer the question I think we need to find the best GM regardless, I havent even looked to see who is out there but if we lose to Carolina im going to start digging into it. Doug was also the coach when Philly selected Reagor over JJ, im sure he had input on that and it wasnt a good look when JJ was about to set the rookie record and Reagor was trash. |
