Playoff scenarios next week

#1

Obviously we win and take the division is the plan and best case. But for arguments sake what does the wildcard look like if we don't win in Tennessee.

Colts and Texans play so one of them would take the division at 10-7 the loser would be tied with us at 9-8.

The first two wildcard spots should be locked up with the browns at 11-5 and the bills at 10-6

Looks like the chiefs are going to drop to 9-7 with a loss to the Bengals. The Steelers are down right now would make them 9-7.  The Bengals and broncos are going to improve to 8-8.

So a loss could potentially leave the following

Jaguars 9-8
Colts/Texans 9-8
Steelers 9-8
Broncos 9-8
Bengals 9-8

What does a 5 way tie look like?

Doesn't work in our favor. Broncos losing would put us in using that scenario.

Keeping the wild card backup plan in play, we should be rooting for steelers, bengals, and broncos to lose in these afternoon games.

It’s going to be tough for the broncos to lose to the chargers but maybe

Yea I think the wild card is looking less and less likely. Steelers play ravens next week and Bengals play browns. Both ravens and browns are locked into their seed with nothing to play for. Don't think we can rely on both steelers and Bengals to lose next week. If we want that wild card as a backup plan, probably need them both to lose today.

Would be nice to have a realistic chance at wild card in case we lose but isn't looking promising. May be division or bust!

Ravens have a bye, so they may want to play to avoid a layoff unless a player is hurt and needs the time off.

Browns will rest.

Need the Bengals to lose today and the Steelers to win.

Yes if we think steelers lose next week and Bengals win, then we next steelers to win and Bengals to lose this week. Need both teams to finish no better than 9-8 and tied.

I could be wrong but does the winner of the Texans Colts game get in playoff as wild card or division? Playing around with scenarios and I see that winner always get in as wild card if we win division.

Why would we need the Steelers to win, a loss and they are eliminated at 7-9

It seems like we have only one path forward, and that is to win.

Looks like we'd win 3 way tiebreaker with cincy and Pitt. But we lose head to head to cincy.

We lose a head to head tie with Cincy, but without the Steelers being included, Denver would take it with a win. The Jags wild card scenarios aren't great as a lot of teams need to lose.

The only scenario the Jags make it is for the Steelers to finish 9-8 ... unless something strange happens in the last few minutes of games.

We just need to handle business next Sunday. Don't leave it up to chance.

Win and you're in. Same as last year. Same exact team. You're just on the road now which has been better to this team.

I think they'll get it done. I would even keep Lawrence on the sideline if his shoulder is still healing.

I think they can get a good defensive performance again and a good running game effort going again.

Just let Beathard take what's there. Give him some time and make it happen.

So the Texans and Steelers are on the hunt.

So we get in as a wild card if steelers lose to ravens and broncos lose to raiders? Think that may be it now.

Yes that’s exactly right. Jags just need to win and not have to worry. I wonder what games might get flexed with play off implications.

Also, it’s interesting that our “weak “ division has three teams in contention for the play offs in the last week of the regular season.

Kinda wonder if steelers and broncos had lost today would we have not already clinched a spot. That wasn't something discussed that we could have clinched today aside from winning division. I guess the number of permutations was too great to have ut brought up as a possibility.
