Josh Allen - Deal or No Deal (Done Deal!)

C'mon man, Garrett signed that contract in 2020. Sweat got 4/$98 with $62m guaranteed. Allen is going to get minimum 5/$130 with $80 guaranteed.

$15m or $16m guaranteed per year? Seems too low, to me.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

I looked at percentages of recent contracts that are guaranteed. I know we're seeing higher amounts recently, so I went with a conservative number. That's also the guarateed salary portion after the signing bonus not inclusive of it. Most contracts list the total, signing, and guaranteed numbers for reference.

He will request a contract that is at least No. 4/5 for a lot of these parameters:

He just restructured this past year. So you are agreeing with me.  I said 24.75mil you are saying 25 mil per.  I said a 4 year maybe 5, not a 6 year if we extend him.  You are saying a 5 year lol.  I think he gets tagged if he is asking for Nick Bosa money

OK I'm including the signing bonus so we might be on the same page.

It’s quite simple you pay him top 5 De money, he’s a great player, and while I obviously don’t know him every reporter or person around the team tells you he’s an amazing team mate, that’s the kind of player/leader you sign long term and keep happy

Agreed, that's why I said 24.75 mil per year.  That would make a top 5 paid edge rusher.  If he has been more consistent the last few years, All Pro, NFL defensive player of the year etc. I could see him setting the market and becoming the highest paid defender in history like AD, Watt, Bosa etc.  I don't think he sets the market, if he wants that he gets tagged

That's not how it should be viewed.  The guarantees are the signing bonus and early years of the deal and are not prorated over the life of the contract.  I could see $80 to $100MM guaranteed which would be the signing bonus plus the next 2-3 years of the contract fully guaranteed based on a $25MM per year salary.  After that he's essentially playing at the team's option or holding out for a new deal if his play is at or exceeding his pay at that point.

Agreed.    Josh deserves to be a 100 million dollar player.   Sign him for 5 years, 20 million per.

I'm just happy we finally have a first round pick who actually deserves to be paid like the best in the league if i'm being honest.

The NFL owes Allen *1 extra sack

Allen is only .5 sacks away from being tied for most sacks in the NFL.

He could plausibly finish the season as the sack leader.

And some people say he isn't worthy of an elite contract.
