Caldwell Interview

#41

I've felt they will take a QB during the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round instead of the first. Draft Clowney or Mack and trade back during the 2nd round. This draft has a lot of talent and I'm all for getting more picks late in the draft.

I wouldnt use anything Caldwell says as a clue to what he is going to do in the draft or not. Hes not going to give anything away.

This is true as well. Even these little interviews that are posted only on our jaguars website is still info other teams can gather. I still think he is being fairly honest with us.

I am starting to think they are going with the Seattle model for finding a QB.   Just build the team and draft or acquire quarterbacks until you find the right one, but don't reach for a QB or panic over not having "the guy."   Seattle had three or four different guys in there- Tarvaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, Seneca Wallace, Matt Flynn, and then finally they hit on one- Russell Wilson.    All the while they were building the team, building the team, building the team.  They were patient.

This is what I believe is going on as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we drafted Logan Thomas and Connor Shaw with both our 6th round picks as the 2 QBs we take.

If that happens I expect a full and complete meltdown on this board.

Do it Caldwell!

Quote:Isn't worth trading down. If we do that means we won't take a QB and we would almost surely miss out on Sammy/Mack. We need one of those players.

I think if we trade down to sixth we can land either Mack or Watkins.

LOVE THEM JAGUARS!

A trade with Atl and a Watkins pick does make a lot of sense when you think about Caldwell.

Didn't they have different regimes through this as well?

I'm excited about this draft, really am.

We should get 3 impact starters at least at positions of need.

Hopefully another 3-4 good developmental guys who could turn into solid starters at some point.

If we get 3 truly impact starters from one draft that would be amazing...and I am assuming you meant impact starters on an NFL level not just on the Jags.

Whatever Dave does, It will not be a bad draft. He has so many options to help this team get better. Only Questionable move would be QB at #3 overall but only time will tell on that pick. He can trade back or pick each round.  He can pick skill positions on offense, playmakers on defense, or bolster our d-line or o-line_He can't loose. The world is his literally. Sitting at the top of each round. Its a cant loose situation. To many good players coming out. A good mix of juniors and seniors. Deep into the 3rd & 4th round there is talent to fit our scheme especially on defense,. We will get 3 starters this year early in the draft for sure. Also possibly hit it big with late round pick for a starter as well.

I have faith in Dave & believe he won't kill our dreams this year and miss on picks.

Sucks draft day is pushed back. This waiting is killing me.
