Its time to start planning a replacement franchise RB!

#1

With the departure of Mojo, and no proven impact RB on the team, Evaluating our next franchise RB has to be a top priority after QB. I know some of yall are going to say "well we got Gerhart". Sorry but he is no impact player..He lacks speed and quickness.. Anyways im hoping we draft a rb somewhere between rnds 3-5.I would love to see Gurley here..

Gurley isn't in the draft.

To me it sounds like you are describing Mojo for last few years when you say " lacks speed and quickness". Now don't get me wrong I am all for drafting another RB but I would say 5th to 7th round you can find one.

I'd be a little annoyed if we grabbed a RB at 3.  What was the point of signing Gerhart if we are going to take one of the first RBs off the board?

I usually would agree, but given that we have no idea who will be available at round three, I wouldn't have a problem if they took someone who they thought wasn't going to be there in the 3rd round.

For instance if they have a low first round grade to high 2nd round grade on a prospect, and he his rated in a different tier than the other players remaining, then I wouldn't see a problem with that.

Wow, a little behind current events.  If we wanted to draft a feature back, last year would have been the time to do it.

With the new system, RB by committee (although Gearhart will be the "feature") is a common approach.

This draft is deep at the position, so I wouldn't be surprised if we add one.  Though, I would be surprised if that back wins the RB1 designation.  But should we take one somewhere, we should have a nice stable to run with and it won't put so much pressure on Robinson to produce.

Give Gerhart a shot, and be careful to dismiss him as ho-hum...

Pro:

4.7 yard average per carry (played behind Adrian Peterson).

College:

All American

Doak Walker Award (best RB in nation)

Archie Griffin Award (college football's MVP)

Jim Brown Trophy (top RB in nation)

2009 National Offensive Player of the Year Award

2009 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year Award

First team all Pac-10

First team Pac-10 All Academic

2009 NCAA rushing leader

2009 NCAA TD leader

2009 NCAA points leader

Combine notables:  4.47 40 yard dash, Highest Wonderlic score of all RBs.

I think this guy is going to surprise many in Jag Nation, if we can give him an OL to open some holes.

I agree...he has started 6 games...

Yards: 405 rushing

Avg: 4.5 yards per carry

TDs: 1 rushing and 1 receiving

His longest starting streak was in 2011 when he started three games in a row and he got better every game...

Is he going to be the next Fred Taylor or MJD in his prime...no...but is he has bad as some want to believe...no...I think he will be a good back for us...

Now I am not opposed to drafting a guy to eventually take over...

I'm just going to assume you've never seen him play.

Here's a name to remember...Karlos Williams.

Didn't say he wasn't any good.

Something always seems to happen to players with goofy names like that that keep them from reaching their potential. He'll probably have bunch of injuries or something.

I predict 100% that he will not be an NFL star. Something will derail it. No matter how talented he is.
