Its already starting to happen with Clowney.

The guy was at one point seen as a can't miss. Then this season of lackluster effort happened out of nowhere.

I don't know why it happens but there sure seems to be something to it.

Something always seems to happen to players with goofy names like that that keep them from reaching their potential. He'll probably have bunch of injuries or something.

I predict 100% that he will not be an NFL star. Something will derail it. No matter how talented he is.

So you're judging his NFL future on his last name?

I love Clowney the player. The potential is off the charts. The intangibles are troubling though. But that said, you have to take him at 3, regardless.

It will still be interesting to see how his career ultimately pans out.

1) How is "Todd" a goofy name?

2) If you are only referring to his last name are these names goofy to you as well:

Driver

Sharpe

Alworth

Aikman

Biletnikoff

Bradshaw

Blount

Butkus

Dickerson

Ditka

Dorsett

Elway

Fears

LeBeau

Little

Lott

Marino

Nitschke

Otto

Page

Sapp

Shell

Webster

Youngblood

and so on and so forth.....

I think you just enjoy being a clown.

Isn't this the same thing you said about Clowney when you had no idea who he was either?

Quote:With the departure of Mojo, and no proven impact RB on the team, Evaluating our next franchise RB has to be a top priority after QB. I know some of yall are going to say "well we got Gerhart". Sorry but he is no impact player..He lacks speed and quickness.. Anyways im hoping we draft a rb somewhere between rnds 3-5.I would love to see Gurley here..
Be patient my fellow jag, be patient. Don't be writing off Toby Gerhart just yet as an impact player. Don't forget, he played his ENTIRE contract behind a beast known as Adrian Peterson. Toby's talents couldn't of been showcased playing behind AP. But the 1800+ yards he had his Heisman Runner-up year was NOT a fluke. The defenses just didn't roll over for him you know. This kid is a runner. Unlike some RB's in the league, if he has to go "thru you" he can do that too. His quickness (or lack of as you say) is surpisngly deceptive. Just wait on the criticisms until they are warranted instead of speculated on.

If player with goofy name was better than other player, I'm still taking the player with goofy name...

Its still something I'll be watching as these become pro's. Its an intangible. Nothing more. But until I see a Gurley or Clowney become a star and buck the trend, I'll continue to wonder if theres something to the ol' "whats in a name" theory.

TMD........C'MON MAN, of all your freakishly bizarre theories,  this one is just dumb. I'm talking cinder block dumb.

As to the topic I say roll with Gerhert ,Todman and Robinson plus maybe a late round rook.

Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.

You and I must have a differing opinion on which of those last names sound goofy for football. The only one of that bunch would be "Fears" to me.

Gerhart, Tre Mason.

Championship tandem.

Robinson will be our Edelman/ Woodhead

I like Todman, but think we can do better.

Nothing for Todman at all? I think it's possible he's going to turn some heads this year.

LOL

Aikman - This guy will have aches and pains throughout his career. Injury prone

Alworth - Gonna be wanted money all the time. Just look at that name he thinks he is worth top $

Little - That's his last name but he is big instead of little. Doesn't make sense so he is not a football guy

Sapp - That guys is a poor sap. Not worth the risk.

Youngblood - What happens when he gets older. Will he change his name to Oldblood

Butkus - His name has But in it, and alot of people mistakenly pronounce it "Buttkiss". He probably lacks toughness....

Lott - He is just another guy, you can throw is lot in with the rest of them.

I am just saying that's the vibe we would probably get from you if we didn't know these guys already.

I added Todman at the edit.

I do like that he seems to have some big play capability.

I still think we can do better than him, though.
