Awwwwww no way!! Loved that guy.. Lamm at Large.

Met him quite a few times for The Concert on the Green at The Ravines. Always a pleasure to talk to.

RIP, duder.

I was just thinking about him the other day while listening to 1010 and wondering what happened to him.

Yeah. Grew up on his rants and hearing him on the radio. My father can't stand him. Said he pushed hard for Tom Coughlin to be fired back in the day.

He did.  I remember in 1996 when the Jags were 3-6, he said something like "Let's face it, this is a bad team."  Of course, they wound up 9-7 and won two playoff games.

I always thought of him as a bit of a goof, his knowledge and opinions on the NBA especially were almost laughably ignorant at times but I understand his impact on sports talk radio and his influence in this town. RIP
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Wasn't a fan really, but yes he was a big part of local sports talk radio here for a long time. So, RIP David.

The last I'd heard from him he would call in to 1010 periodically during Covid. I might catch a couple of hours worth of 1010 per month at best though so not sure how active he was there in recent years. The majority of the station sucks but it's what we have for local sports talk. The only personalities I really care for are Hicken, Mike Dempsey, Hacker, Campo and any former Jags that are on like Searcy, Lageman, Boselli, etc. Hacker's voice grated on me for a long time, but once you get passed it he's actually not bad with his commentary.

Used to listen into the 7:00 AM show. Hicken and Prosser can be hit or miss for me between the yelling and over-the-top loudness. I will tune in though once the regular season starts, especially after a big loss or big win. They don't mince their words at all, they don't hold back their opinions with the team and I enjoy them getting after Boselli here and there. During the dead soon though? Not a big fan.

The Jaguars Today show for me continues to be the main one I try to listen into daily though. Regardless of the time of year. I like Fat Tony and Dempsey on there. McManus is okay. Garrard gets on there quite a bit during the regular season and I like his views and points about QB play.

Trying to give the ladies a shot at 12 PM with Helmets and Heels. Nothing personal with them. I just have a hard time after that lunch hour for me at work (1100 AM - 1200 PM) and getting back at my desk and playing catch up to really give them my attention that they probably deserve. I prefer my music going while I am on the job. I think they have a good panel though. They've had some good guests on there and good questions are being asked. Mia especially had a good interview with DaVon Hamilton yesterday.

I know some folks on here are hit and miss on Mia O'Brien but I like her. Taylor is cool as well. She covers a lot of Bears stuff and Lauren is also pretty well rounded with her commentary and general knowledge of everything.

Joe Cowart is unlistenable. No opinions of his own, always pushing product like a snake oil salesman, and is intent on calling everyone 'dude' at least 5 times each hour. He sounds like a junior high student at reccess. Same with Hellmutts and Heals. Regardless of them being female, the content coming out of the mouths still has to be interesting, and it mostly isnt. I listen to Cowherd on 930AM now if im out and about during the 12 to 3 time frame cause there is nothing else compelling locally to listen during that time, IMO.

RIP Lamm. Listened to him a lot in the 90's and 2000s. Enjoyed him more than Jay Solomon, who most local sports media fall down and worship like he was the Second Coming. Solomon was average at best, IMO. Just because you are a local trailblazer doesnt necessarily make you great.

Sad to hear.  David Lamm was such a staple and companion when I was performing field service back in the ‘90’s.  His exuberance when it was announced that Jacksonville was awarded a football team is cemented in my memory.  The Miller Lights were flowing that day, lol.  RIP David.  My condolences to his family.

"When we come back we'll have three segments with Taylor to find out what's going on with the Bears, should they have taken Caleb 1st overall or was there a better option on the table? After that Mia will have an interview with random internet website guy to talk about his thoughts on the Jaguars 6th round draft pick. Then we'll wrap up the show with an hour on gaters girls softball. You're listening to Helmets and Heels on 1010XL and ninety two... point five... FM."

I was here since 1993 when he essentially was the morning show on our sports talk radio station. I'll just say that he's ok in small doses. Listening to him for a few hours per day was quite painful so I opted for music instead.

He was a remarkably horizontal person. Gravitationally enhanced.

Lamm and his tendency to rant about his perceived issues with various southeast sports franchises and programs were part of my Jax sports scene upbringing as a kid through adulthood.

He was a real character. His style was not my thing at all, but sad he's not with us any longer.

RIP
