It doesn't matter what party they were.
Today one's party affiliation has become an essential part one's identity.  It wasn't so in the 20th century.  Pointing out that they were Democrats is about as informative as pointing out that they wore hats or that they liked to smoke.  So what? The twentienth century had a Democrat who re-segregated the federal services (Wilson), a Democrat who de-segregated the army (Truman), a Democrat who stood in the schoolhouse door (Wallace) and a Democrat who passed the voting rights act and the civil rights act (Truman).  The party didn't really have a central theme then.

It's not that I'm uneducated, it's because I just don't care that much to read a term paper on a message board about a topic as frivolous as this lol
