First few seasons are good. Once they start revealing who the superheroes really are it takes on a darker twist. Having a hard time staying engaged with season four at the moment though. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? It seems like the producers are looking to just cross as many lines as they can. The episodes are the same stuff over and over again without really advancing the story. Not sure I'll finish it with another season coming. 4 is going to at least end it supposedly and then 5 wraps it up with the aftermath of whatever happens. Feels like they're fixing to put a bow on this thing. Butcher with his situation. Hughey with his Dad (Although, that could be interesting given the recent episode and turn of events) and then the whole Starlight and Firecracker arch should be fun to see how it finishes out. At some point, more major players will probably need to die off to advance the story to some extent. It really does feel like they're stuck in this "[BLEEP] or get off the pot" writer's block. Homelander's recent actions are hilarious though. He's at least remained the one constant throughout the entirety of the show. Hate him or love him. He hasn't changed at all really. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. I've been looking for a series to binge watch (seems I will have some extra me time coming up). A buddy mentioned Frontier, but I'm not much of a Jason Momoa fan. Any input on Frontier, or series recommendations? I haven't kept up with series for quite some time. My last one was "These woods are haunted", which I thought was captivating ... maybe not for everyone. I wish another season would be added, or 10 ... etc.
Edit: I need a little help here ... Did any of you watch the "These woods are haunted" series? I don't think it is only for old people in there early 80"s. I’ll suggest Fringe which is a bit of an older series but I liked it. It’s a little like the X Files but the central mystery is completely different. The Leftovers is a good one if you like “mystery box” plots. If you’re into something a bit more straightforward, try Deadwood.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Woody and Matt together in that. Fantastic acting and dynamic. The story is good. The characters are interesting. Just a great series. Matt in particular was on a hot streak that year acting wise. Think he had this show come out, along with Interstellar and Dallas Texas Buyer's Club within less than a year of each other. Probably one of the best years I can recall of for any actor making screen time. Vikings from the History Channel. Great series in general. Chronicles Ragnar Lothbrok. Really good characters. Travis Fimmel really made the series special. Gustaf Skarsgard as well with his acting as Floki. It starts to drag out a bit, however, the creator of the show wanted it to have a fitting end with it staying as true as possible to the folklore of Ragnar with the historical battles that took place through the North and all of Western Europe and parts of Eastern Europe. Outsiders from FX. Pretty cool series for just two seasons. Good acting by David Morse & Ryan Hurst. Involves a rural mountain family standing their ground against a corporation and small town looking to buy up or encroach on their land for natural resources. Think "Redneck" and "Moonshine" meets a traditional Native American movie where they stand their ground. Just sub bows and arrows and horses for guns and ATV's. The Outsider from HBO. Novel by Stephen King. Jason Bateman, Paddy Considine & Cynthia Erivo really made the show. It's a dark thriller. Never read the book by King but Bateman and Considine brought the characters to life really well for just a one season type of show I believe or mini series. Black Sails from Starz or Showtime. Really cool take on Long John Silver's story with Treasure Island. Did a good job mixing in fantasy elements with pirates and actual, historical pirates from the golden age of piracy. Think Michael Bay had a hand in this show, so, the explosions, the battles, the fighting, etc. Some of that is done very, very well. Toby Stephens did an awesome job as Captain Flint. Hannah New was great as Miss Guthrie. Just a number of good actors in this show. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Fleabag on Amazon Prime. Those two are about as different as they can be, but I loved both of them. Here's another good one. Mr Inbetween. It's on Hulu. Wow, thank you guys for the recommendations. I been binging on Fringe, I'm on S1E5 so far. I look forward to a couple others that were mentioned. Again, thank you very much.
I concur with Vikings, The Outsider and the first season of True Detective. Season three of True Detective was also good though different and nothing will ever top S1.
Vikings: Valhalla (Netflix) is pretty good if you like Vikings. It's set 100 years after Vikings and tells the story of Norseman Leif Eriksson among other historical Norwegians, Icelanders and Greenlanders. He is said to be one of the first Europeans to land on North American soil during a sea voyage. If you ever get the chance to watch Broen, or, The Bridge, you should watch it. It's a Danish/Swedish series that is really fantastic. The first season is the best.

What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Needed some mindless television to watch without a bunch of noise so I watched a couple of episodes if the Netflix Dallas Cheerleaders series. I remember this used to be on HBO or some other channel years ago. The two ladies in charge of selecting the squad are former Dallas cheerleaders and said that when they auditioned in the 70s disco music played and the girls just danced to it. They showed a clip and it was hilarious to see the hair and fashion of the mid to late 70s and hear the music.
![]() These days it's a lot different and it's interesting to see the different dance disciplines these girls bring to the auditions and how good they are at them. And my goodness they are so young. There is a girl from Jacksonville who made it to the training camp part of the process. She's a very sweet young lady and very much about her Christian faith but when you see her initial dance it's like someone flipped a switch and a different personality showed up. Kind of freaky. But those are the girls that are really good at this sort of thing, and what makes some folks really, really good actors. We show less advertisements to registered users. We are binge-watching Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime Video. It's a very good show. Highly recommended.
Jeremy Clarkson, who used to be one of the presenters on Top Gear, bought a farm in the middle of England. Then, a few years in, his farm manager decided to retire. So he decided to run the farm himself. And he hired a crew to film everything and edit it together into a TV series. It is not staged. It's just reality about how hard it is to run a farm. It's also very funny at times.

Just like Top Gear, every time Clarkson says "So, I had an idea", things will not turn out well.

We also binge-watched "James May: Our Man In..." also on Amazon Prime. There were 3 series- Japan, Italy, and India. We've finished all 3 series. That show is quite good also. It's a travelogue, but he does a lot of interesting stuff that your typical tourist wouldn't be doing. I enjoyed the episodes of Top Gear that I saw in the past but didn't see every episode. Did you ever see "The Grand Tour?" As you probably know, when Clarkson got fired from Top Gear for hitting a producer, May and Hammond also quit and joined him on a new show, "The Grand Tour." It's also on Amazon Prime, but I haven't seen it yet.

I couldn’t get over the impression that it was three aging men attempting to recapture their youth. I haven’t seen May’s series but I did see another show of his where he flew in the backseat of a U-2 aircraft. That was pretty interesting. We show less advertisements to registered users. Didn't know this was a Star Wars show or drama. I am interested now. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Silo season 2 has started off well. I’ve read the books and really enjoy how they’re adapting it. I also recently discovered Ted Lasso. How’d I ever miss this? It’s great!

Lasso, Silo, Foundation, Shrinking, Severance and For All Mankind are very good. |
