I am smart enough to know that I am dumb on certain subjects. To be honest, Politics is new to me and did not care until I seen the world around me turn into Lunacy. I am trying to learn what Legit good thing that Joe Biden has done for Americans. Unfortunately when Watching left wing networks like CNN, MSNBC,, ABC, etc., They spend much more time painting Trump as this Nazi Devil then talking about their politics. So here is your platform to school me on How good Joe Biden has done for this country while leaving Trump out of the equation. Since Joe has taken office can you spell out what benefits his administration has done for the country?
There are 3 liberal arguments I am asking you to leave out because it does not Gel with the vast majority of Americans -The Economy is "good" or Bidenomics: The vast majority of Americans are living pay check to paycheck while watching inflation drain their bank account. Countless Polls have shown the vast Majority of Americans do not believe the economy is "good." -Bringing back X million Jobs: We all know the vast majority of Jobs was the result of bounce back from The Pandemic , and bringing in Millions of immigrants to fill those roles. -Diversity: The Vast Majority of people including the great Dr. Martin Luther King did not believe in rewarding people based on their skin color or gender. Common sense tells us that the most qualified person should fill any role. I cannot buy into any of this DEI crap. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”- Martin Luther King Now we got those pointless things out of the way, Please School me. The economy is great if you locked in a low mortgage rate before 2021 and don't plan to move. It's excellent actually.
If you're in that situation, your wages have almost certainly kept up with your personal increase in living expenses. For pretty much everyone else, the ballooning price of new mortgages and the absolutely crazy price of renting in many places really makes all the other good news about the economy bad. Your other two questions, I think you're right. The Democratic party is making false statements because they are trying to polish a turd. But the Republican party and its supporters have also used job statistics that they had nothing to do with to try to make themselves look good. Goes all the way back to the time over 100 years ago when these types of statistics first became available

You're "inviting Democrats to school you," but there are no Democrats on this message board. It is 80% pro-Trump Republicans, 10% anti-Trump Republicans, 5% libertarian, and 5% pure troll.

Calls out "Democrats" by name.
Mikesez leaps at the opportunity to shine! Just need the "I'm not a Democrat, I'm a Republican!" to make it complete. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Trump was lucky it didn't hit during his term. Just dumb luck, not policy.

OK the inflation topic is a metric and easy to understand why. Follow me and I'll take a shot at this.
The first thin Biden did when taking office is to begin to attack the fossil fuels,at the time we we as a country energy independent. . I understand the reason why. I am not debating the why. Diesel fuel used by truck and trains averages $2.74 per gallon under Trump. Under Biden it averaged 3.77 per gallon. It rose from the lower Trump levels and for 9 months was above $5.00, peaking in June of 2022 at $5.74 per gallon. (about the same time inflation did at 9%) This has an effect on everything the consumer does or buys. So what effect did that have? Let's take apples. They move on average 1555 miles to get to the consumer. A truck that averages 8.5 miles per gallon uses 193 gallons. (this is pretty generous as many do not come close to this average) That is a cost of $517 under Trump and $869 under Biden. (that is using the $3.77 average not the peak of $5.74) This is an increase of 68%. for a truckload of apples. You can do this for other items, but due to the laws of math the increase will remain about the same. Biden began loosening (draining the reserve Trump filled) some that has slowly reduced this cost to around $3.77 June 2024. I have analyzed jobs as well. There are many things there as well. Like the "revision" to past reports are always down and it is based on a shrinking work week of 34 hours? Last months job increase was around 100,000, which on the surface seems solid. Unfortunately for taxpayers 70,000 of those were government jobs and part time. Now any ideas to clarify more, am open to suggestions.
A new broom always sweeps clean.

We had a low rate mortgage prior to 2021 and through our hard work and saving over the years, we were able to pay our mortgage off and live pretty much debt free. However, with the cost of fuel, supplies, animal feed, etc. it's getting pretty tough to get by. Our situation (my wife and I) is different than most "average" people. Our "wages" come from retirement income as well as the small bit that we earn from what we produce on our small farm. Our income is certainly not keeping up with our expenses. It's worse for a lot of people in our small town. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. This is a great post, but I would like to add to it to support the example. In the apples example, only fuel for the delivery was used as a calculation to keep things simple. When you look a the larger picture, these are other items that went up with inflation that will all effect the apple prices. Farm labor costs Fertilizer Diesel for the tractors and tree shakers / harvesters Cardboard flats for packaging and displaying apples Store labor cost ect. I've heard multiple left leaning politicians blame corporate greed for the cost of goods rising. Biden is chief among them, but honestly he is just reading a prepared script. I am dumbfounded when they get in front of a camera and try to tell people barely getting by how great the economy is. Just a few years back we were paying things off early and building our savings, now for the last two years I've stopped paying an extra 800.00 on the mortgage every month and the accounts are barely stable. I am still putting a decent amount in my 401 each month as is the wife, but not everyone is as fortunate as we are. The only reason we are not doing worse is my job comes with about 25 to 30 hours a week overtime. If that suddenly dries up its going to get very tight. Yes, but it is not the President's job to make the economy "good." The government is supposed to manage some things on the margin of the economy, like social safety net when workers get laid of or become disabled. Then they oversee workplace safety, they punish fraud, they punish workplace discrimination. Most workers have no interaction with these things at all most of the time. Because as far as producing value and earning money off of it, that is entirely up to the private sector. The President gets too much credit when the economy is good and too much blame when it is bad

Americans have been living paycheck to paycheck forever. It's called financial irresponsibility (in many cases) and it will NEVER go away.
That said, I think we have avoided what appeared to be a significant recession which I think I attribute more to J Powell and the Feds so I'll defer on that. Nobody cares about the GDP but that's in better control than when Trump was in office. But I think Biden's best contribution is unifying the UN in a more sustainable manner. That's not saying that I don't like the fact that Trump mandated 2% contributions but Biden seemed to make certain all countries were unified with Ukraine. Another thing, I'm not certain about stats but I really didn't see Trump bringing jobs back to America more than Biden. It seemed like things remain status quo regardless of all the political hype each party spews. .... others may say fighting for reproductive rights and other key elements of the Dem alignment but I'm more about the Economy and World Peace so that's my major focus. Aside from everything, I'm a little intrigued to see how Trump handles the Gaza Strip, Ukraine, and our border under this term. When I say INTRIGUED, I mean I'm slightly looking forward to .... as I think changes need to occur.

The government has a huge hand on the scales of the economy. Regulations and policy regarding domestic energy, EPA requirements, permitting and licensing, minimum wage laws, OSHA, taxation, trade agreements. The list goes on and on and on. Some of these policies are great, others are very burdensome. The amount of hoops to be jumped through and shifting goal posts are ridiculous. |
