I can't say that for sure. If that is his only dis qualifier IMO, I would probably still vote Trump. If you throw in all the other horrendous pile of crap that goes along with Walz then yes, I would not vote for Trump. If he were stupid enough to put a [BLEEP] like that on his ticket that would do it. I would leave that space blank or throw it to Kennedy if he is still around.

I guarantee you it doesn't [BLEEP] matter if you were/are NG, Reserves or AD, if you were in the military for more than a month you're going to know your rank, you're going to know your chain of command's rank from bottom to top, you're going to know every rank from E-1/O-1 to the highest of whatever your branch is/was. They pound this into your brain so you know how to address each other, especially those higher ranking than you.

I'm also a no! There are too many other more important issues to consider before letting a small issue like this change my vote.

It may be a "small issue" to someone like you who never served the country and has no clue about how the military operates.  However, to veterans like me it's a huge dishonor and shows a huge lack of character.  He knew what he was doing, and it was all for political gain.

A couple of things just to try to attempt to educate you.

1.  I was in a similar situation when I left the Navy.  I was a "frocked" E-6 which means that I was selected to be advanced and was able to wear the rank and assume the title of Petty Officer First Class.  However, I was never paid as an E-6 so my DD-214 discharge paperwork lists me as an E-5.  Even I as an enlisted lower ranking member understood this.

2.  It's not "just one rank above".  There is a difference between an E-9 and a Command E-9.  In my squadron we had two, a Maintenance Master Chief and a Command Master Chief.  The CMC held way more power and answered only to the Commanding Officer (CO) or the Executive Officer (XO).  Not so much the same for our Maintenance Master Chief.

Finally, regarding your comment doubting that the lower enlisted would even know the rank structure, once again as usual you are wrong.  I can only speak about the Navy, but knowing the rank structure and how to identify each rank was a requirement just to pass basic training.

You really should keep yourself out of discussions regarding military service since your ignorance is evident.

Having served on a NATO base, you had to know the officers of all the branches and countries as well as your own.  Several countries uniforms would have the traditional gold piping on enlisted uniforms.  I can’t tell you how many E-2’s I saluted when I first got there.

He was promoted to Command Sgt Major, but it required a 2-year commitment, iirc. After he found out they were being deployed, he put in his retirement, meaning he didn't fulfill the time component of his contract. He was demoted back to his prior rank upon leaving the service. Regardless, any military person here knows you don't get to claim your highest rank. If you were demoted, you were demoted. Period.

Geez, Mikey. I can't believe how badly you carry water for these losers.

I haven't heard about it requiring a 2 year commitment but that it required lots of training hours, several of those weeks needing to be done at a base out of state. He didn't do the training so he was demoted.

I appreciate the education and maybe I'll remember it, but I didn't claim to know any more than I actually know about it.  On any other topic, if someone says something wrong, we usually ignore it, or worst case correct them and move on.  Why is it, on this one topic, you became the third person to not just correct the error but advise me to never express any thoughts about the topic again?
