There's no such thing as price gouging.  There's market price and price fixing.  Keeping a hotel artificially low because of "fairness" would actually hurt supply.  Instead of a family of 4 making do with 1 room as they might do because of price, if they happen to be "first to the counter" to reserve rooms, they might instead reserve 3 rooms leaving fewer for other needy families.  1 for the husband and wife and 1 each for their adult son and daughter who prefer not to share a room together.  This example is hyperbolic, but it's one of many examples for why a family or other group traveling together might want multiple rooms when 1 would suffice.  Also, higher market prices motivate people from other areas to load up their trucks and bring needed supplies like generators to an affected area.  Without a profit motive, those people aren't bothering and people in affected areas who want generators and are willing to pay over MSRP won't even have the opportunity.

Your example is nonsense.
In an emergency no one's going to magically put more hotel rooms on the market.
They may load up their trucks with supplies and come in after the storm has passed but not during the evacuation. 
Yes generally suppliers should be able to react to scarcity by setting prices higher.  But not in some types of emergencies.

You could just have said you don't understand the relationship between price and demand or that you weren't comprehending what you were reading.  Who said anything about putting more hotel rooms on the market? If my mom and my family were in dire need of a hotel room, at $70 per night I'm probably getting my mom her own room. At $370 per night, we're probably making do with 1 room for her, myself, my wife and our young kids. This isn't difficult.

However, I will restate my position on there being no such thing as price gouging.  When someone has the ability to manipulate a market to drive prices up artificially on a product they sell, that would be an example of price gouging and that should also result in lengthy prison sentences when proven in court.  Natural disasters driving prices up because of sudden scarcity isn't price gouging though.  It's a swift adjustment of the local market price based on uncontrollable stimuli and, as I stated previously, the profit motive will help get more needed supplies to an area much quicker which is a good thing.  Hoarding is a thing as we saw regarding toilet paper during the pandemic.  I wonder how much TP people would have hoarded had the price gone up temporarily on it as it probably should have.

I remember saying during that campaign that of the dozen or so candidates that the democrats had Tulsi was the only one that I thought was sensible and I could support.  My only disagreement with her was her (then) view regarding the 2nd Amendment.  I believe that she has changed her position on that since then.

Here is an example of why I cannot commit to Harris.  Today, she is proposing an anti-price-gouging law.  Now, anyone who believes in free markets knows that there is nothing wrong with charging absolutely as much as you can for a product or service.  That's the way the system is supposed to work.   Profits produce jobs, profits bring competition, profits are the life blood of a healthy economy.  We should tax profits, yes, but we should never tell people they cannot charge as much as they can for their product or service.  

If I have a hundred thirsty people in front of me, and I have 25 bottles of water, I should charge as much as I can get for that water, because I will take that money and buy more water, and someone else will see what I am doing and try to do the same thing.  That's the way a healthy economy works.  

I cannot get on board with the idea that the government should decide when a company is charging too much for their product.

So, you are ok with the $69 hotel in Ocala charging $369/night during a hurricane evacuation?

So, I assume you are also ok if all the gas stations along I95 charge $20/gallon for gas during an evacuation.

Can't wait to see the Publix prices this summer when a hurricane is on the way .... perhaps $100 per case will be fitting.

Except that is not what your candidate is proposing at all.  She is going after the reason why groceries are more expensive.  Why is a dozen eggs for example over $6 per dozen?  Is it because Publix is "price gouging" or is it because the cost of producing those eggs has gone up?  Feed is more expensive, fuel to run the machines that produce the feed or deliver the final product to the grocery store has gotten more expensive, etc.

Say for example that the cost to the farmer to raise the chickens, harvest the eggs, package them and ship them to a wholesaler went from $2 per dozen to $3 per dozen, is it "price gouging" for the farmer to sell them to the wholesaler for $4 per dozen?

The wholesaler's cost went up to acquire and store the eggs, sort them and transport them to Publix went up.  Is it "price gouging" for the wholesaler to sell them to Publix for $5 per dozen?

Publix has to store the eggs, pay someone to stock the shelves and sell them.  Is it "price gouging" for them to sell the eggs for $6 per dozen?

She is accusing a corporation like Publix of price gouging when it costs them more money to purchase the product and put it on the shelves.  That is exactly what her proposal is all about.

Under normal circumstances she is unelectable however there has been a media blitz for 8 years demonizing her opponent who seems to go out of his way to push away potential voters.  I fear the people that would push him across the finish line comfortably are going to stay home.

Coupled with the fact that the same people who have been blitzing Trump are openly advocating for Harris. Trump already had a steep hill to climb, he's making it steeper with his words.
