As The Roster Churns: Waives/Cuts/Signings/Trades 2024

Further sign of a good and deep roster with trading talent away before cutting to 53. Jags will pick up from where they left off at 8-3 last year and not from the collapse thereafter.

You had the right of it.

Looks like they're somewhat comfortable with the defensive front after trading Gipson to Seattle today.

Good call.

Thanks! I posted somewhere last week that Gipson didn't look likely to make the 53, glad to have seen that one coming and glad they moved him for something in return.

I think Cole is going to make this roster.

He has to. His upside and frame is good. Rated highly against the run during the preseason. Still very raw but moldable as a pass rusher.

You can't stash him on the PS. A team will snatch him up with this same mindset. We're better off trying to get him to be our next Bobby McCray or better.

As long as the running game can be established, especially against the tougher opponents, this offense can thrive.

Lawrence is at his best with the play action game in his back pocket. He's very much capable of being an Aaron Rodgers (in his prime of course) type passer from this type of foundation.

His arm strength is elite, his accuracy, especially while on the move, during bootleg's, etc.

All of that is elite. We just haven't seen it enough because of the core 5's shortcomings.

It can all change if we get, not even the best football, just AVERAGE football, out of Robinson, Cleveland and Morse.

So, Baalkie got a 6th for Chaisson from the Panthers then traded that 6th to New England for Mac Jones. I wonder who he has his eye on now?

There a olinemen we think can actually be useful for a 6th?

I feel like Baalke has something up his sleeve.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

We could probably get one that could yell "LOOK OUT !" with a loud enough voice to be heard over the crowd noise.

Javon Foster wasn't even the best oline rookie in minicamp. Not sure why he wouldn't spend a year on the practice squad. Blake Hance would be more valuable this season.
The Other Jag Forum: Duval Football Fans.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

Because he would be claimed tomorrow if he was waived. Out of curiosity, who did you think was the better rookie?

Because they spent 4th round capital on him

You don't piss that away if you can help it

We only had one other rookie lineman. That was Steven Jones at Guard that barely practiced this summer. I don't recall if he played or not with the calf or ankle injury as well.

Steven Jones played 12 plays game 2 and 6 plays game 3 at RG. At 5'5" and 342 pounds I believe he is a practice squad guy if he clears waivers.

If they cut him, chances are someone else will give him a shot. I agree with you, I think Tim Jones is the surprise cut, they keep Trammel, but they also give Jones a hefty bonus to hang on the PS and dump all his knowledge on Trammell.

How crazy would it be if they kept both Trammel AND Tim?
Which position are you cutting from though to keep 7 receivers?

I dunno. stash Robinson on IR for now, roll with 3 RB? Like I said, Crazy.

Put that guy on ice skates and some goalie pads and you'd never lose a game Laughing

That boy is built like a tube of beef. In fairness though, I liked him coming out of Oregon. Was happy to see him end up here. They might stash him on the PS though.

But if someone claimed him, would they put him on their active roster?   It's either that or they'd put him on their practice squad, and why would he want to go from one practice squad to another?
