The Fins are typically very good in September (7-1 under McDaniel). Defenses also typically don’t do very well the first time they face a McDaniels offense because of the speed and motion on every play.

I think it’ll be a high scoring game because the Fins defense won’t be very good this year. No pass rushers. Wilkins gone. Secondary can be suspect.

Hoping the Jags shock them and pull out the win but I’m nervous about all that speed in Miami.

Some of those games in September have come down to the wire as well. Barely knifing out teams like Baltimore and Buffalo if I recall correctly. I think we match-up relatively well in this game.

Yeah - I don't have much confidence that a defense with a sprinkling of new faces + an untested and freshly installed scheme will be ready for the phins offensive subterfuge and speed.

I think Nielsen and the squad he's inherited and augmented will come together fine by October. I just can't feel good about that happening in week one vs a prolific scoring offense.

Jags may need a 31-27 type of score to win this one unless I'm totally wrong about the readiness of the Jags D.

Would really like to see the Jags play without unforced errors and protect Trevor to start the season at the very least.

That's why I harped on it earlier with Nielsen. He's going to have to call a really good game and the coverages he chooses to mix and match with will be vital to their success. It's the running game that concerns me to some extent. This is where all of that money and resources that was devoted to addressing the front four and linebacking core needs to shine. They need to keep Achane and Mostert in check and they need to get in Tua's face in obvious passing situations. 

Expect a lot of pre motion stuff, a lot of quick stuff and pick play stuff. Somebody needs to jump a pass in this one (Looking at you Campbell, you're now primo numero uno at CB salary wise) and Cisco needs to be ready to lay the wood to set the tone early. You cannot give Hill free, clean releases at the line of scrimmage. Somebody is going to have to handle Waddle one-on-one and Hill is going to need to be jammed and coverage favored in his direction. 

This game could end up a lot like last year's game in Cleveland on paper. Just can't make any mistakes on offense and you have a shot to keep pace with them.

The key will be to win in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Tua has always struggled when facing pressure even going back to Alabama. They key on D will be to get in Tuas face, hit him, and pressure him as much as possible.

On offense the oline has to win their matchup against the Miami's dline. Mia. front 7 isnt very good. Wilkins is gone, Chubb is out, and Phillips is coming back from a bad injury. Mia has a very good secondary with Holland, Poyer, Maye, Fuller, and Ramsey so we need to take advantage of the front 7.

I think Etienne and Engram both have big days. Armstead vs Allen will be something to watch and I want to see Walker own Jackson.

Week 1 is always an odd week. Teams at different stages of preparation, first real game for most players, week 1 often throws up some odd scores. This is a tough game right out the gate but I want to see us in tough games. That's where you see where you really are as a team. I'd love a win but won't be disappointed if its an L.

The key thing for me is Hill. His speed is ridiculous. He can outrun guys if you get to close and be near impossible to stop if you give him too much space, but you focus too much on him then Waddle will hurt you. Being able to get pressure with 4 will be a big factor in this one. 

Cannot wait for Sunday and have a lot of faith and hope for this year. It won't be decided by 1 game.

As it against any high powered offense, keep them off the field as much as possible by playing ball control football. Take advantage of your scoring opportunities. FGs won’t get it done. I like to think we’ll get this one with our defensive upgrades but I dunno. This early schedule is pretty brutal.

This is where I am. Smother them, win the turnover battle, Keep chains moving.

This is one of those games I wish we were playing in December, though.

This may be ugly. Wish we played them at the end of the season when their key players are typically banged up.

I look for them to start with a lot of quick passes to get the ball out of Tua's hands. Then to offset any over pursuit, they will run some counter plays and trick plays to get our D off balance.

I think our key here is to run the ball and eat up the clock, but since we we can't run the ball we're forced to pass more than desired.

I would add that it's not just week 1.  It's usually the first month or so of the season that can lead to false conclusions about teams.  This has been exacerbated by the shortened preseason.

In addition, I don't get the fear of injury in the preseason as approaching the situation rationally (except maybe for QB). If dude gets injured and out for the season in preseason game 2 or week 1 of the regular season, what's really the difference? The only argument that makes sense to me is you have guys competing to make the roster that probably have little chance of making it and their mentality in the preseason game may be to throw caution to the win in order to make a play and get noticed which might put other guys on the field at greater risk. I agree with that being a concern and the solution is to have an agreement by both squads or by the league on how long 1's will play in preseason games and perhaps even how long the 2's will play.
