Fantasy Football - 2024

Have a few league's running at the moment. Joined two random one's on ESPN and then I have a main one with seven other folks, some who I know personally, others, not so much. At any rate, what is your strategy in a 8 man, 16 round league?
I am leaning towards 2 RB's early, then aiming for 3 quality WR's and then depending on who is on the board in RD6, I am leaning towards QB or TE. Any sleeper's in mind? Minus some homerism. I wouldn't mind picking up Gabe Davis late as a bench WR. Just in case somebody goes down or he gets on a hot streak. His deep ball ability is there. Plenty of TD's to also support selecting him late in my opinion. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. 8 man? Thats crazy. 32 teams, meaning every team can pick 4 #1 rbs and 4 #1 wrs. I've never played in any leagues with less than 12 people. Not sure how to strategize that kinda setup.

My favorite league format for many years now is Deep Dynasty/Legacy formats. 10 team, start 2QB, 2RB, 3WR, 2TE, 2Flex, 2K, 2Def, 15Bench. I play these online at DataForce FF and don't know anyone in the leagues personally, though I do see some of the same team owners appear in multiple leagues that I'm in so there appears to be a group of regulars that I am apart of. Some are best ball and some are weekly lineups. Depending on which of those it is will alter the draft strategy a bit. At any rate, all positions have value and some positions are really scarce like QB to the point that even some back up QBs in the NFL are rostered in this format. Also, QB and TE get a bigger boost in value in this format and the waiver wire is also usually pretty bare. If you want to fill holes, you're probably going to have to trade and I do usually see a lot of trades in this format through out the year, but not always.
I find the overall dynamics in this format more fun than standard formats. With deep rosters leading to more trades, the ability (or rather, necessity) to roster deep sleepers you might not otherwise bother with, added draft strategy variations and complexity, player and positional values entering more of a gray area or at least being more situational at times in their trade values, depth being as important if not more so than starter strength, etc. I still play in a few friends and family leagues that are of the standard redraft variety and I find them quite boring by comparison and I contemplate dropping out of them every year and probably will at some point. I've always wanted to start a local league of hardcore FF friends with a live, local draft using my preferred deep format, and I've posed it to a few people in years past, but have never gotten around to actually doing it. I'd ideally like to have my annual rookie drafts occur the week prior to the NFL draft to make things really interesting and force people to do their research and watch highlights on their own and form their own opinions and then see some rookie player values change dramatically after the NFL draft.
In one of the 12 man leagues I'm in we do 3 keepers. Whatever round they were drafted in the prior year is the draft pick you lose. It really makes things interesting. Almost all of the top 36 players are already "kept", with maybe a few inspiring 2nd year players.
Back when the league first started, there was a guy who drafted Alvin Kamara and David Johnson in the 17th and 18th round. Guy dominated for quite some time. You get lucky and hit, you've made it. This year I drafted BTJ, Nabers, Worthy and Corum in the mid rounds. Hoping to hit on at least one or two. It's a big risk, but this is a $100 league that has went on for years. Winner each year takes home over $1k after everything is added up. $5 a trade ($2.50 each person), $1 for every free agent transaction. Top 6 make the playoffs, bottom 6 play for the #1 pick. Keeps people from tanking on purpose.
I did four leagues in total this year, one with my main group of friends and coworkers, and then three random one's, one of which was done via the ESPN+ perks:
Team 1 (10 Man, picked 9th out of 10): QB1: Jordan Love QB2: Trevor Lawrence RB1: Derrick Henry RB2: Bijan Robinson RB3: Tank Bigsby RB4: Taje Spears WR1: DeVante Adams WR2: Cooper Kupp TE1: Jake Ferguson TE2: Dallas Goedert FLEX: Terry McLaurin FLEX: Malik Nabers FLEX: Xavier Worthy D/ST: Bengals K: Jason Sanders Team 2 (10 man, picked 6th out of 10): QB1: Kyler Murray QB2: Aaron Rodgers RB1: Jahmyr Gibbs RB2: Kyren Williams RB3: Ryan Dowdle RB4: Javonte Williams WR1: Davante Adams WR2: Drake London TE1: George Kittle TE2: Pat Freiermuth FLEX: Brandon Aiyuk FLEX: Gabe Davis FLEX: Rome Odunze FLEX: Xavier Worthy D/ST: Steelers K: Jake Moody Team 3 (8 Man, with family, friends, coworkers, picked 6th out of 8) This team means the most, last place makes sandwiches for the whole team, winner gets $100: QB1: C.J Stroud QB2: Kyler Murray RB1: Jahmyr Gibbs RB2: Joe Mixon RB3: Najee Harris RB4: Zack Moss WR1: Ceedee Lamb WR2: Mike Evans TE1: Evan Engram TE2: Dalton Schultz FLEX: Brandon Aiyuk FLEX: Keon Coleman FLEX: Terry McLaurin FLEX: Amari Cooper D/ST: Ravens K: Ka'imi Fairbairn Team 4 (10 Man, picked 3rd out of 10): QB1: Kyler Murray QB2: Brock Purdy RB1: Derrick Henry RB2: Isaiah Pacheco RB3: Najee Harris RB4: Chubba Hubbard WR1: Jamaar Chase WR2: Amari Cooper TE1: Sam LaPorta TE2: Dalton Schultz FLEX: Terry McLaurin FLEX: Gabe Davis FLEX: Xavier Worthy FLEX: Adam Thielen D/ST: Steelers K: Ka'imi Fairbairn ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Keep in mind. Very new and vanilla to FF. Just got into it last year finally.

I love fantasy. My main league is 12 team .5pp, start 1 qb 2 wr 1 te and 2 flex. Went hero rb with ETN and tried to go heavy on wr's. Starting amon ra, drake london, devona smith, and amari cooper. Week 1 was horrible lol. Got like 7 points between asrb, london, and cooper. Hopefully bounce back this week.
