He did that last year with the Buccaneers... who are more talented than us, and still they only went 7-9.

 

He might get us a few wins, but in the long run... he'll do nothing to help this team -- unless the goal is achieve mediocrity. 

I am guessing they went 7-9 because they ranked 23rd in points allowed......even though they ranked 13th in points scored....

 

but thats just my take on last year.

My hunch is the Bucs won't fire Greg Schiano this week.    Usually,  a coach that gets fired in the middle of a season gets fired at the beginning of a week.

 

However,  if the Bucs lose at home to the Eagles in their next game  ( Oct. 13 ),    a major shakeup in their team brass would seem like a very realistic possibility.

To be honest, until the 0-4 teams start winning, they are all a serious threat for it too - and while NY Giants & Pitt don't "need" a QB....they could surely take the trade windfall from another team who wants Bridgewater if they happen to get the #1 overall pick....

This team has been awful to watch over the last two year, historically terrible, QB play being one of the biggest issues

 

No reason to jump on anybody wanting to see someone else out there that is miles better then what we have.

 

Like someone said if we did get him he prob wont start for a few weeks, by then we will be 0-9, the other winless teams Steelers and Giants will win about 4 games this year and the Bucs have been in every game even with Glennon so they will get a few wins. I doubt Freeman would make us get out of the number spot.

This team hasn't had a true franchise QB since Brunell. 

 

Now, we are 12 games from quite possibly landing one of the more special QB prospects that you will ever find - probably just below Manning/ Luck/ Marino/ Elway level, but on par with a guy like Rodgers for instance....

 

I don't want ANYthing wrecking those chances...

 

winning a few meaningless games might be the difference between the 1st and 4th picks in the draft. 

 

We want to be that team that has the special QB for a change. Once you land the QB, the rest seems to fall into place.

This is what I was saying. Maybe we still start Gabbert for the Arizona game, we'll be 0-10 with 2 games against the Texans, @ the Browns in December, the Bills and Titans  aren't push overs and @ the Clots who will likely be playing for seeding. If Freeman were to win 4-6 of these games with this roster in its current state, I'll feel really good about what he'll be able to do once we build. If not, we will still have a top 2 pick.

While the Raiders beat the Jaguars by a comfortable margin earlier in the season,    I still believe the Raiders are a potential candidate for a top 3 pick.     With the # 1 pick a possibility if by chance the Jaguars make significant strides as this season goes on.

Being a low/middling team with a doofus GM and cheap owner is what got us where we are today.

I support signing Freeman, cutting Henne, and letting Freeman sit the bench the rest of the year. Maybe he could show enough in practice to keep around and be next year's backup behind Teddy.

 

But honestly, I just support the signing because it would be a big blow to the Tebowstans. I don't really want him for real.
