An Alite QB makes a handful I’m going to assume two things .. one you are talking about Trevor. And two after looking at your name and handle you are biased.. because only someone delusional would say he is an elite QB based on what we’ve seen so far. Not saying he lost us the game but my goodness he sure didn’t help us win it.
Kirk not being reliable was a major bummer today too.
That 3rd down drop was huge.

Positives:
-Offensive Line to me played very well up to the 4th quarter -BTJ is going to be a star -Defense, beside the communication mistake, played very well -The offense played very well overall, through 3 quarters -A lot of our draft picks contributed today: Strange was out there, Abdullah, Antonio Johnson, buster brown, Bigsby, BTJ and of course Walker and Harrison who were Starters already last year Negatives: -Offense had a blackout and did recovered its confidence after the fumble. -Out of the four pillars of this offense( Trevor, ETN, Kirk and Engram), three dropped the ball, literally, 3 drops and a fumble. They are the most experience guys on this offense(3rd year together), and when push comes to shove, the ball is going in their hands. although in Kirk case he was coming back from injuries, but we expect more from him. Overall a very good three quarters by the whole team. Was it perfect? No, but they dominated. Considering that its the first game with a new coordinator, the defense was very good and it's not a worry to me The offense after the fumble it's the biggest concern coming out of this game, in the NFL you going to face adversity and you need to learn how to deal with it. But luckily for us, offense is the speciality of our head coach( and he was not perfect today, but he is not a concern for me), so I expect a bounce back from them next week. Glad that this happen in the first week and not in week 18 lol We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

He had a 17 game stretch where his numbers across the board were top 5 in the NFL before his OL failed him and let his body crumble last season. I am not speculating or giving an opinion he has already played like one of the best. Delusional would be denying that. The Jags biggest problem remains OL and frankly I question whether scheme is a good fit for Trevor he's at his best pushing the ball downfield. Statistically he's a top 5 QB in the NFL on deep throws (20+ yards) and Jags ranked near the bottom last year in attempts. Part of that is OL wouldn't allow time to throw downfield and the weapons around him were not good downfield threats which Brian Thomas now helps solve. Trevor can't win the game with only 8 pass attempts in the entire half and playing behind a OL that won't protect him.
the loss is a major concern we lost to a bunch of guppiues and blew a 17-7 lead. thats major cause for concern.
snowwolf titans owner in madden. note titans owner means im undeafted againest them.
Positives? We play the Browns next weekend and Watson looked like complete [BLEEP] today.
Sad thing is we'll probably find a way to make him look like an All-Pro next weekend.

This loss hurt because the Jaguars had everything under control until the fumble. A win next week against the Browns is now critical since they are followed by tough road games against Buffalo and Houston.

Sure, ETN’s fumble and Kirk’s drops cost the team big time. This happens, players bounce back. However the play calling was absolutely mind blowing in the second half. Trevor had SEVEN pass attempts in the second half. SEVEN! This play calling is the exact same as we saw last year down the stretch. Outcoached by miles in the second half. No adjustments. Going for it up 3 on our own 29 was a panic boneheaded call. Just zero positives from the second half period. Craziest thing I’ve read this year. After everything this fan base has been through over the last 10-15 years, Doug ain’t going anywhere. I ain’t about to break up my Head Coach and franchise QB. Kirk dropped too many footballs, Etienne fumbled, and Cisco had a rough game with Waddle and Hill. Johnson missed a couple of tackles, and a couple of penalties hurt the team in key moments like the roughing the passer, false starts etc. That was the best offense in the league with the best WR in the league and 1 of the fastest players in NFL history. Other than those chunk plays, the defense looked great at times. It seemed like all of the new acquisitions made plays. The kicker is here to stay, rookies made plays, defensive scheme was solid. You can’t stop special players like Tyreek Hill, there’s only a handful of guys on the planet that can run with that dude. Cisco ain’t running that cat down and it ain’t got nothing to do with coaches over on the sideline. They gave Hill some room and instead of him running 9’s, he ran deep crossers against that man to man and it hurt the momentum and then Etienne fumbled which also has nothing to do with the coaches over on the sideline. The substance of a good Jaguars football team was put on display today. It was a tough loss, and now we gotta go get the next one. Last year we all knew we was on borrowed time, this year already feels different, in a positive way.
Hey at least we’re not the Bengals
I think we will be fine. Browns look horrible on offense and uninspired think it’s a good bounce back game. I'm concerned that they didn't get enough pressure on the QB, he had to many chances to either make the quick pass or to go through the progressions to the outlet guy. The fish lived in the flats today and the Jags didn't have much of an answer. Two plays changed this game and they happened to come back to back, otherwise it was a blowout. Once they lost the momentum they couldn't find a way to get it back, that's a concern but in week 1 there's still time to recover from this. This sums up our first loss of our 2024 NFL season. We'll bounce back. Time Will Tell. NH3...

Meh, it's week one. Here's what's clear to me:
Def got gassed. It happens in Miami in September. Started missing tackles they were making in the first half, coverage broke down. OL is still not where they need to be, they're better than last year but still not great. There were a lot more running lanes and more time for Trevor, but they wore down fast in the 2nd half Kirk is rusty. Those two drops were awful and he normally hauls those in. BTJ is good. If it wasn't for DPI he would have had two TDs Run defense is better and Nielson is a significant upgrade over Caldwell. I'm not going to make over reactionary statements about this team after one bad half in a hot environment against one of the most dangerous offenses in the league, on week 1. This game came down to one play, ETN's fumble. If he scores there, we win. It would have been 24-7 instead of 17-14 one play later. Again, it's week 1, we'll be fine. We all knew this was a tough game and we had the opportunity to win. It sucks, but it is what it is. Step back from the edge and remember that week 1 is ALWAYS a weird week and not usually indicative of what a team really is.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

My actual only concern: Have we heard any clarity on Campbell's injury?

In my experience of regularly watching football over the past 30+ years, I think I've seen the sequence that played out against us played out hundreds of times before around the league. About to go up 3 scores, but in bam bam back to back plays you're instead up only 3 points. It's a mental toughness thing that the best coached and most experienced teams have a better time avoiding and we're perhaps not quite there yet, but we may be by the end of the year. Also, it's week 1 and I wouldn't put too much stock into any conclusions drawn from the game. I came away from that game extremely frustrated by the way that we lost it because I feel like the better team did not win the day, but we'll see how this plays out for the phins and Jags the rest of the year. Bad loss. This team isn't good enough to lose many games like this. Can only afford a couple of them so to use one up in week 1 is unfortunate.
Obviously the fumble followed by immediate TD were huge. Then running the ball 8 times on next 9 plays gaining on only 23 yards was terrible coaching. Way too conservative against an explosive offense with a defense wearing down. Just a total meltdown after that fumble. And still barely lost. After how last season ended this type of collapse could really tank this season quickly if we don't rebound. I think the Browns game is close to a must win or else the train could come off the tracks before Sept is over. Starting off 0-4 may be too big a hole to recover from. And this browns game is the easiest one of the next 3. Can't let this bad momentum linger. For all the Trevor critique, it does get tiring. The only criticism which I think is fair is that outside the 2nd half stretch in 2022, he still doesn't go above the x's and o's on a consistent enough basis in big moments late in games. For him to take that next step to be a top 5 QB that can carry a team deep into the playoffs he has to elevate himself in those situations. Now the coaches didn't give him much opportunity this game other than the last two plays. The oline didn't give up immediate pressure on those plays but collapsed when his initial read wasn't there. Does a guy like mahomes or Allen figure a way to buy more time, scramble, and wait for a guy to come open or move the chains with their legs? I don't know. But I wasnt surprised we failed to move into fg range. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.
Bottom line, Doug needs to have a fireside chat with our guys and get a few things straight.
1. We did not give that game away. Miami TOOK it force ably from you. 2. After ET's ill timed fumble the only thing that changed was Miami played harder and the Jaguars did not. 3. The offensive line needs to play until the whistle even if someone on defense appears to jump off sides. If you job is to block I expect you to do that, if it is to catch the ball same thing. If you need a safe space after something bad happens in the game see me after the meeting and we will try to arrange a trade for you.
A new broom always sweeps clean.
