I've already said it's preposterous to make the hurricane or hurricane response into some political partisan thing based on the voting habits of people affected.
If Biden or Harris went out there and tossed rolls of paper towels at them, would you feel better?

I started this thread and was very clear that I hoped it would not have an effect on either side of the political spectrum.  It is becoming obvious though that one side see this as to there advantage and while not gloating, don't seem upset with it either.

If you are smart, you don't take their money, but a lot of people don't have options. FEMA excludes a lot of people, so anyone with insurance is out. You can file later with them if you are never paid by your carrier but they won't pay you the money and then try to collect it from the carrier.

When I said no one has seen them I meant FEMA, not the funds. These folks haven't had Internet or have had extremely limited Internet access on over a week and they're not online trying to register for and collect FEMA money. If they're able to get online it's to email family and friends. 

To my knowledge FEMA still have not reached the locations where my friends live and the last update I got was yesterday. They don't even want FEMA around. The coordinated efforts of volunteers has brought them everything they need. They still don't have utilities but they're thankful for the hot meals, showers and laundry facilities set up so they can eat, shower and have clean clothes and bedsheets until utilities are restored.

NG was supposedly without orders from Governor for a while, so they couldn't leave the hotel.
Army was sitting there on-call waiting for deployment for WW3, so they were refused leave and weren't assigned until today to assist.
Didn't hear anything about getting the Army Corp of Engineers rebuilding roads asap.
Military food/medicine drops should have been happening.
Military should have been dropping teams in each area with radios to do quick triage assessments and figure out how many people were where and then getting them supplies.

FEMA is full of DEI hires now and not focused on Americans. They need to be purged like much of the government.

I don't think it will come into play big time but I actually think it will hurt Harris more. Asheville is the main population center in Western North Caroline and its Democrat central. They don't call it the Portland of the east for nothing. Easily probably 70% Democrat.

The thing I could see is NC doing a lot of absentee ballots which means the likelihood of us knowing the NC result on election night would be slim to none.

I could honestly see the NC election being delayed, to allow an extended period of time for people to vote. 

In these natural disasters, right or wrong, the people in charge are blamed and disliked. Right now that's Biden/Harris. Some say the Election is the last thing on their mind right, and that's true, but it will also motivate them to vote against the people they perceive to be ignoring them, again Biden/Harris. Trump will run on the fact that he will get them aid almost immediately, whereas with Kamala they won't get the aid at all. That will get people out to vote if they think Trump will be paramount to them getting the aid and money to rebuild their lives.

Most of these places have ample food, water and supplies they just don't have utilities yet. There some areas that are still extremely difficult to reach but they're still getting some food, water and supplies that are being brought in by horses and mules. They're not being left to fend for themselves, they're just not getting aid by the government. 

These kinds of headlines piss me off because they're disinformation, but if they shed a light on the government's complete incompetence in dealing with this situation I guess I can stomach seeing them.

You don't have water without power. Most of these places probably aren't on a city water treatment though so powering a well pump can be done.

Yep. If you're in town you'll have city water so if there's power there's water unless there's a problem at the water treatment and/or wastewater plant, water lines or plumbing. Same with electricity. Just because lines are active doesn't mean a building or home that had water to the ceiling has working electrical.

So many do not live within town limits and are on a well. My friend lives out of town limits so she and her neighbors are without basic utilities now for 11 days and no idea of when they'll be back up. 

The next problem to tackle is the cold nights coming up the end of the week. My friend's house is undamaged but without power she has no heat. Those living in partially damaged homes may have power back on but no way to keep heat inside the house.
