My observation is Doug nor his coordinators can adapt their scheme to fit the personnel they have.  They run their scheme regardless of the players and expect the players to adapt.  A square peg will not fit into a round hole and these guys are unable to adapt to that fact.

We need to face the fact that we have some guys here who are mentally soft and just wilt in the bright lights. Change the scheme all you want, that doesn't stop a guy from fumbling or falling down in coverage, or like Lacy yesterday, getting pushed 6 yards off the line every run play.

Yes. There are many reasons out there as to why the Jags should fire him but how about how horrible the Jags are at the first 15 scripted plays? They are so bad in Q1. Then, when Trevor kind of lets it rip, they look good.

Sad to say , but barring a miracle (I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt since he has overcome 2-7 here albeit when expectations weren’t that high). He’s done.

I give zero farts what he says to the media. He could drop trow and squeeze out a steaming pile to respond to their questions or give them the utmost effusive praise for their constant and unimaginative questions, so long as he's putting worthy product on the field every Sunday.

This should be one of the most tempting job for a top coach. Honestly, this team is ready with the right coaching and one good off season.

I've been saying this since last year.  It was obvious last year that Dougie and his boy weren't willing to actually do the work.

This team is ready for a real run.  But it's not going to happen with Pederson and his OC.  

Lawrence is such a good QB, and we're wasting his time with this aweful HC and his idiot OC.  I'm sure NYC4Jags will give us videos about certain plays.  But it's not about 1 play.  It's about the entire game.  It's about the preperation before the game.  It's about the game plan.  It's about how the offense is ready to go.  It's about not having 4 pre-snap penalties before the 1st half is over.  It's about having discipline.

But no, it's not the coaches.  It's the players.  Even when the clots have 4 wins.

We smoked the clots!  So how do they have more wins???  It's insane how these mods are trying to protect our coaches.  These coaches are absolute trash cans.

You keep saying this like the offense is sputtering like a rusty old buick. If anything, our recent production completely negates the assertion that they were lazy or incapable of adjusting.

Here is the dilemma that I'm seeing. The Jags end the season against Tenn x 2, Jets, Raiders and Colts. They could easily go 4-1 or 5-0 in that stretch and say end with 6-8 wins.

If Pederson is still the coach, I could see both him and Baalke surviving based on saying "the team turned it around."

If Pederson is fired but Baalke is still in the building, he will tell Khan "see it was the coaches, I picked good players and you should keep me around."

Both of these would be horrendous outcomes, but I don't know how you convince Khan to fire both of them before that stretch of games.

So long as they can Nielsen, I can't say we're not progressing.

But yeah, blistering through a series of tomato cans to end the season and the D appears capable, we keep everyone intact for one more go is the nightmare scenario.

Both things can be true. The roster isn't that great and Doug is doing a very poor job of coaching. The first quarter is horrible every single game. The first 15 scripted plays are bad. The energy is bad. The vibes are bad. There is clear tension between Pederson and Baalke. Clear tension between Trevor and Doug.

It's so many things that it's not just coaching and it's not just players. They don't start well and they can't close. When the defense makes a stop (which is rare), the offense goes 3 and out. When the offense takes the lead, the defense lets the other team march right down the field.

The only thing keeping me watching these games is Trevor and BTJ. Everyone else can pretty much kick rocks.

There are some building blocks on the roster but the whole staff needs fired. Fire Doug now, Baalke should probably stay until the end of season just for logistics (moving players on and off the roster as needed for the rest of the season) but maybe we could get an assistant to do that on an interim basis too. Whatever, our staff and front office needs a complete rebuild with competent personnel.

Blank 2. For me, it means I’m still not giving up on Doug , but I’m extremely upset with him as a coach. Anyhow, Khan will not fire him until at least the season has been over for a while. That’s just the facts of jags. If it was up to me, I would fire him if the jags are mathematically eliminated.

Corn for similar reasons. Not that I haven't given up, but the pessimist in me fully expects that if we send Doug packing we end up with another Mularkey or Urbz and end up even worse than before the upheaval.

I almost think Doug resigns before he ends up fired. If the combination of the pressure of the media's barrage of questions about job security, poor performance, locker room chemistry get to him, he may just pack it up and go enjoy his sunset years with the grandkids and a whole heap less stress. I'm putting the onus directly on Nielsen's head to either adapt scheme or depth chart to yield results or git gone.

The O is progressing and if they're succeeding in spite of Doug or Press, so be it, so long as they are succeeding. You cannot say the same for this Defense, and just like the O the roster appears so stacked that failure is not acceptable.

I just don't want us to go backward just to hope we can move forward. If we bring in fresh meat and have to wait another 2-3 years to get everyone on the same page or rebuild rosters to fit systems, it's just as bad if not worse than where we are today. It sucks and I hate that we seem to be perpetually in this stasis - we are either awful, flawed beyond expectation of success, or in a state of repair to correct past mistakes. Can't we just have something nice for once?

Del Rio came in and gave us the the good defensive teams. I went through the Gus Bradley era where we became the laughing stock of the league. Doug Marrone era gives us 1 good season. Urban Meyer stunk the place up, and in comes Doug to give us back to back winning seasons and a playoff appearance in his 1st year. This year reminds me of the 2000 season where  a play here and there changes the outcome of the season.

The Etienne fumble against Miami, the safety against the Browns. The dropped TDs, the interceptions. Your number 1 CB and LB out with injuries, your number 1 TE has missed time, your all pro return man went down. The interior defensive line being non existent, which is completely out of the head coaches control when a player lines up and gets whipped.

The defensive coordinator just didn’t work out. The personnel didn’t match. Brown is a lifelong backup but he’s your starter. Cisco is struggling in the man scheme. Johnson is seeing the field because Wingard has been injured.

Muma has been forced to play and he definitely don’t fit a man to man scheme.

Armstead was a swing and a miss. RRH was worse than Fatukasi was last year.

The offense scored 27 points today and lost. The defense is right up there with the worst it’s ever been. This secondary ain’t scaring anybody.

Coughlin was ran off too soon, I ain’t firing him. He knows what it takes to win a championship and I’m not giving the keys to another Gus Bradley for 50 games until a decision is made.

The Jaguars make the playoffs in back to back seasons if McManus just makes his FG against the Bengals last year.

It’s been a rough season, but I owe him at minimum 1 season to get it back on track.

I applaud you for this post. It's an unpopular opinion right now but it's something that needs to be remembered. Doug walked into to the biggest dumpster fire we've ever been. Back to back #1 picks, a bad roster, the Urban experience. We've had some bad times but that was the lowest of the lows. He turned the team around very quickly and overachieved with a mix of young guys and FA pickups. Last year started amazingly and we all know the late season collapse but it was our first back to back winning seasons in over 20 years. It's an embarrassing stat but something many other HC's have failed to achieve for us.

Baalke needs to go. No question about that. Nielsen is a dead man walking barring some miracle turnaround. The O is so hard to judge now we have this Pederson/Press blurring of responsibilities but the O has shown its good and bad. If we bring in a GM that feels they can work with Doug and hell work with some changes to his staff and Doug wants to stay and fight, I wouldn't be stunned to see him get one more year.

It's easy to say get rid of Doug and if your bringing in someone like Ben Johnson then great, but if it's another teams trash, is it a step up or another sideway move and we're here again in 2 years?

And replace them with who though? Outside of the left tackle and right guard, there's not exactly a tree out by the Miller Center loaded with Next Men to put on the field at this point. Now we're going to see change by attrition, so, like the Mac Jones comment elsewhere, we're going to see what's going on with personnel and I'm concerned it's as bad as we think in some cases.

I've seen enough.  

I know it is players making dumb mistakes and failing to execute assignments that is losing most of these games, but he has to figure out a way to alter that -  these last 16 games or so have been mostly excruciating to watch. 

And for the life of me I can't figure out why he doesn't like Trevor Lawrence, but this man does not like Trevor Lawrence, LOL

I interpret the questions in the OP as bait to get Doug to say it's Trevor he's frustrated with.

The thread was started because Doug Pederson's team lost 5 of their last 6 games in 2023 to ruin any chance of a division title or playoff berth - then followed that up in year three of the regime with 4 straight losses to start the season. 

The clip of him being awkward talking about TL is just one of many such instances that suggest he doesn't like the QB he's saddled with. I don't really know if that's true or not. He may have his own reasons for not heaping praise on the kid, and that's fine. But there are lots of those pressers that kind of take a similar narrative. The thread is more about him failing to get the team to perform. This is a long skid of losses now. Something's gotta give.
