Fire Doug Pederson?

I know it is players making dumb mistakes and failing to execute assignments that is losing most of these games, but he has to figure out a way to alter that -  these last 16 games or so have been mostly excruciating to watch.

And for the life of me I can't figure out why he doesn't like Trevor Lawrence, but this man does not like Trevor Lawrence, LOL

To answer the question, no I don't think he should be fired... yet.  I do however think that he should fire some of the staff working under him.  I would not be at all surprised if he does get fired at the bye week because I see no wins between now and then.

As far as "not liking Trevor Lawrence", I didn't see that at all from his comment.  I saw him acknowledge that Trevor did a nice job and gave some credit to the other players involved including those that aren't starters.

I would wait and see if he takes any steps to change the people working under him up to and including the offensive/defensive coordinators.  If he fails to do that, then yes it's time to get rid of him and find someone else.

My reasoning is that the job of an NFL HC is primarily a manager.  He is not involved in the "X's and O's" of the game nor the scheme(s).  That is the job of the coordinators.  As far as "player development" or teaching/motivating players, that is the job of the assistant coaches.  The latter in this case seems to be what is lacking.  If he makes no changes in those positions, then yes he needs to go.

Doug is literally holding the call sheet on the sidelines every single game... Are you not watching??? It's his Offense and his scheme, whether he's actually calling the plays or not. He's fully involved as he should be. Dude isn't holding the call sheet, talking into the head set and marking [BLEEP] down just because. He's fully involved.

And as far as making changes to the coordinators, he just fired the DC and multiple people on the Defensive staff this past off season. Problem is the Defense got even worse with the new hires..

As a Jaguars fan, if a coach gives me a winning season 2 years in a row, then I at least owe him 1 season to get it back on track.

As a Jaguars fan, I’m not in a position to turn my nose up to the only Head Coach in Jaguars just that has a won Super Bowl Championship ring with any team. As a Jaguars fan, I’m also not in a position to turn my back on a head coach that came in and helped us get to the playoffs in his 1st season. I’m also not in a position to turn my back on a head coach that helped the Jaguars a playoff game in his 1st season, and then start the next season off with a record of 8-3.

A question for all Jaguars fans: Can we at least give him 1 season to get it right? He’s earned some good faith credit with what he did after taking over what Urban created.

This was his year to get it right after missing the playoffs last year

If only Doug would have made that kick at Cincy, the Jaguars would have made the playoffs 2 years straight. 18 wins in 2 years, I just can’t fire that coach because of 1 bad season.

It could take years to find another head coach that is worth keeping around.

I don't want a coach where you have to rely on a kick mid season for a shot at the playoffs.  He lost 6 of his last 7. If he won 2 of those 7 we were in the playoffs.    I think we can find another coach that can get us to double digit wins year 1 with a good draft next year

Guys, Doug was in Philly for 5 years. other than one year when they won the super bowl he was at best a 50% coach. I posted before here it is once again.
PHI 2016 7 9 0 .438 4th in NFC East — — — —
PHI 2017 13 3 0 .813 1st in NFC East 3 0 1.000 Super Bowl LII champions
PHI 2018 9 7 0 .563 2nd in NFC East 1 1 .500 Lost to New Orleans Saints in NFC Divisional Game
PHI 2019 9 7 0 .563 1st in NFC East 0 1 .000 Lost to Seattle Seahawks in NFC Wild Card Game
PHI 2020 4 11 1 .281 4th in NFC East — — — —
JAX 2022 9 8 0 .529 1st in AFC South 1 1 .500 Lost to Kansas City Chiefs in AFC Divisional Game
JAX 2023 9 8 0 .529 2nd in AFC South — — — —
JAX 2024 2 6 0 .250 — — — —

This is what he is, what he will be. This is what we should expect. He caught lightening in a bottle in 2017 much like we did in 2022. Remember in 2022 we had 3 games where extremely lucky plays turned the tide and won the games for us. Sure they happened and made heroes of some players. Even then we did need the Titans to crater losing 7 games. I would prefer getting lucky not be the deciding factor in our success.

He has shown he is a nice guy and very likeable. They even still like him in Philly. Much has been written about ownership interference with Doug and bringing about his demise there. Here in Jax he has had nothing but the deference and support from ownership he apparently did not get in Philly. That cannot be the excuse. Unfortunately, the decision making and results have been about the same. This is what Philly management was seeing and wanted better results. Can you blame them? Perhaps they liked him as well and only got consultants to HELP him. After all it was an expense they did not need to incur. We will never know the truth there, but I am sure Shad and Luri have spoken and he does.

The question I have is this Doug being stubborn or is it him being prideful? Shad and Tony have decisions to make this off season.
A new broom always sweeps clean.

I have never seen a team come up with a worse set of scripted plays to start a game than this coaching staff as long as i have watched football and I have watched football my whole life. This is 15 straight games that we haven't scored a TD on the opening drive and by far an NFL record. Not only the first drive but our 1st quarter is the worst and our first half is terrible as well. As bad as the defense has been the offense does them no favors and they get burned out early and it's hard for the defense to get pumped about anything because if they get a stop they know it will be a 3 and out by our offense .

The play itself is fine, but why was it called right there?  This type of lapse in situational awareness can't happen at this level.... in year 3 no less.

Agreed.  "Let's hit our 3rd string RB on a corner route beyond 10 yards" is a great play to add to the book! Surprise! Misdirection! But they needed to burn clock at that moment, and they needed to call something higher-percentage and straightforward.  Philly hadn't fallen for any of the earlier tricks.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Oh. Doug and Press had another slow start on offense where they can script the first 15 plays for [BLEEP]? Ya don’t say…..

Get these bums out. The season been over. They can’t even get the ball to our best playmaker. Where were the screens? The quick slants? BTJ didn’t touch the ball until late in the 2nd quarter? Give me a break. Bum coach. Bum GM. Bum OC. Bum DC. Garbage franchise.

It actually wasn't fine by any standard. All 22 shows that They called four end zone routes. Nothing underneath or quick. Trevor was about to get drilled if he didn’t release when he did. Add to that the fact that they were trying to score immediately rather then kill some clock. Like seriously? Did they not learn from last week? Actually don’t answer that. I’m so over Doug and his “offense”.

fireing the head coach won't do any good, it will be the same thing all over with a new HC.   One fluke season of winning, and right back to loseing.  doug  was winning his first season, seconed season started off good, but then jags had the loss to bengals, and its  been all down hill since then.   espaissley after getting beat by tittians at end of 2023 season. the next HC wil have a fluke winning season, and then Loserville will go right back to loseing all the time again. Jags need a HC that is firey with brains, and knows how to overcome nfl offcials since they hate us.  its not bad enough we suck, and the refs have to help the other teams al lbecause they are mad that khan is keeping jags in Jacksonville. if he moved them to London nfl wouldn't be callign more, and more againest us. you all know its the truth.  you forgot one opion in the votes.

Its unfixable.

snowwolf titans owner in madden.

note titans owner means im undeafted againest them.

Doug will finish out the season, maybe he gets canned after the Bye. But, that isn’t how Kahn roles. I expect him to last till the end of the season. Same with Baalke.

My WORRY is that Ben Johnson will not leave the lions, or not want this job because of Trevor
