WIld…

That being said, take an OT or DT

I love hunter but we need up front help

A shutdown corner is a premium in this league. There's no way I am passing on Hunter if we have that top overall selection. A team would have to offer me this year's first and second along with their next two year's worth of first and second round selections for me to even remotely consider giving away that pick.

I also don't think you're going to see Will Campbell or Kelvin Banks Jr. out grade Travis Hunter on most draft boards. He's the general consensus #1 overall prospect in 2025's draft. As bad as our secondary has been this year? No way in hell I pass on Hunter.

Another thing to consider if we somehow end up with the top pick. There's a good chance the tacks are looking for their next QB at the top of RD1. It would be funny as hell if they ended up drafting Sanders at QB and we end up getting his WR/CB to make his life difficult for the next decade in this division. Or, Cam Ward out of Miami ends up in our division. Either way. We need an athletic freak at CB on this team that's sticky and splashy in coverage. Hunter would be the best CB in Jacksonville to suit up since Jalen Ramsey.

There are 3 elite players in this draft imo and all 3 are on D.  Hunter, Johnson, and Graham.  Hopefully we can add one of the 3.  Of course they need to have a great ras and combine to solidify the top 3 selection.

Ran another PFF mock since they seem to keep everything updated the best. Had a nice run. Would be genuinely happy with this outcome:

RD1 / P2: Travis Hunter - CB - Colorado
RD2 / P34: Princely Umanmielen - EDGE - Ole' Miss
RD3 / P66: Xavier Restrepo - WR - Miami, FL
RD3 / P92: Tate Ratledge - OG - Georgia

....so this means we are officially in 'focus on the darft' season?

Week 10, a little later than I'm used to, but familiar territory nonetheless. Sigh....

Baalke said before the season, in response to a question, that if we have the #1 pick again, he will not have a job.

The best long-term scenario for this team at this point is:

1. Trevor needs time or surgery for his shoulder so he is done for the year.

2. The Jaguars end up with the number 1 pick again.

3. They trade the pick to the team with the best offer in order to draft Cam Ward. Ideally, they just drop back a few spots in round 1 after trading with someone like the Giants.

4. The new G.M. then drafts the best cornerback ( Hunter or Williams ) or offensive lineman in round 1.

5. The team drafts or signs at least 2 new starting offensive lineman, a 2nd starting cornerback and a safety.

6. The team has 2 first round picks in 2016 due to the trade and is able to significantly improve the overall talent level making them a legitimate playoff contender.

In this "best-case" scenario, the team is able to sign a new head coach like Ben Johnson- who believes Lawrence is capable of winning a Super Bowl with better coaching and talent surrounding him.

Agree with most.  On number 4 i like Johnson if he is there and maybe my top guy in the draft if healthy.  On number 5, i think we just need that other top corner opposite of Campbell because Jones is that dude at nickel.  We definitely need another safety and would love to add Xavier Watts.  Johnson and Watts in the 1st 2 rounds would be massive upgrades to the secondary.  We have to add another edge guy as well.  The new coach will play Armstead at DT.

Yea, Johnson was the guy I meant to say. Not sure where I got Williams from. Agree that we also need another Edge.

I think we have to go BPA this year.  We just need a GM that is correct with his bigboard.  Fix the oline in FA.  A dream FA would be Wills and Trey Smith.  Would love to add a veteran pass rusher as well.  We have to bring in a 3rd edge this year. A perfect scenario like you said is someone trading up for a QB and we stay in the top 5 while adding another 2nd and a 1st next year

I'd be on-board to add both Trey Smith and Wills in free-agency. Wills may come at a slight discount due to his demotion to back-up following the Browns bye week. An offensive line with Harrison at left tackle, Smith and Cleveland at guards and Wills at right tackle would be ideal. Morse should be good for another season, but they need to find his replacement in the next draft, No doubt, this line would likely be the most expensive in the NFL, but Khan needs to make a statement that he's tired of losing. If not, ticket sales will plummet- especially once the new stadium is finished and the price of season tickets increases again.

It is still unlikely that the Jaguars retain the number one pick. If Trevor returns from his injury in the next couple of weeks, there are 3 very winnable games (Titans twice and Raiders) remaining. Regardless, the significant upgrading of the offensive line via free agency and the addition of a top notch cornerback to complement Campbell (Johnson or Humter) would enable the Jaguars to become immediately relevant in the AFC. Of course, a competent General Manager must be hired or else things will remain the same.

They would have to get doctors to make sure Wills checks out fine medically.  One thing i like about Wills is he is only 25.  If he's healthy in the offseason I'd seriously look at that option

Yea, imagine a starting line with:

Harrison 22

Cleveland 26

Wills 25

T. Smith 25

Morse 32 (To be replaced in 2026 with mid-round draft pick in 2025 (Bryce Foster, Jake Slaughter, etc)

This would be a line which could stay together and become dominant once they get in sync with each other.
