Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

...which, wouldn't that be 100% fitting for Duval? Prolong the suffering, that way we know we're not actually dead.

We need to start a brotherhood with Browns fans, they have way more experience than we do in this department, they could probably teach us a thing or too about developing proper coping mechanisms for dealing with frustrating failure over generations.

There was a character around here back in the day, Bjorn Touroque, that had his location in his post profile as SOUTH CLEVELAND or something like that. The man was ahead of his time.

I think it's more a matter of it doesn't matter if Press or Doug is making the call, we're doomed to limited productivity. Even moreso if Mac is under center and teams can just stack the crap out of the box and force us to third and longs all day.

(11-11-2024, 10:13 PM)JagFan81 Wrote: It's going to be interesting seeing how Doug handles Trevor this week. I'm not saying Trevor isn't injured but he was able to play the rest of the Philly game, Doug says he has no idea where the surgery talk had come from and that it's a pain tolerance injury. Just feels there's something more to this.

I find it odd that Doug is already saying Mac Jones 'will be better' against Detroit.

"Another opportunity, another week to work," Pederson said of Jones, a day after the Jacksonville native completed 14 of 22 passes for 111 yards, and had two interceptions, a fumble and three sacks. "He'll work from it. Obviously he takes it hard, takes it personal, which he should ... we all do. But we have a ton of confidence in him."

He also says he can't offer any news about Trevors injury until Wednesday when the team next practices. So he can't rule Trevor out but can say Mac Jones will be better in the next game? I also don't think he'd be talking about Trevor the same way with the amount of turnovers and how bad they were. I'll just leave you with this from another article

'The issue for Pederson is that, this time, he didn't have Trevor Lawrence to elevate the offense. The quarterback who Pederson has frequently jabbed in press conferences is the same player who keeps the Jaguars' offense together and makes it even halfway functioning'

what I'm reading is that once Detroit can get into prevent defense, Mac should be able to improve on his remarkably poor stat line from this past Sunday.

You may be onto something. Those 2 yard bombs to Gabe will certainly make them both look a lot better.

I may be completely wrong, I'm probably creating conspiracy theories but I have a theory. The Doug and Trevor relationship has gotten rockier the more the seasons gone on. We know that Shad loves Trevor and it's no coincidence that Trevor was spotted going to Shad's yacht and the next day Urban was gone. I think there's a battle behind the scenes. I think Trevor has been criticising Press and the system/calls (which therefore gets Doug pissed as you can't say anything against Press) and Doug has been trying to say Trevor hasn't been executing the O properly.

Now Trevor is 'hurt' l think Doug sees this as a chance to prove that Press isn't the problem. Hence the deep ball after the 2 minute warning Sunday to show it was Trevor, not the call that was the problem.

I could easily be reading way too much into this, it may be this season finally breaking my brain but I just get a feeling there's something more.

Damn I've gone full Columbo. Never go full Columbo!

Trevor Lawrence doesn't need a cheater that is going to put D coordinators as their OC.  Go look back at what happened in New England.  They put D Coordinators as the OC's!!!  And look at how well that turned out with McCorkle....

Wake up, bros.

We need a young dude that wants to make a difference.  We need an offensive minded HC that is young enough and energetic enough to really run the offense.

I sure do wish our coaches would care enough to cheat to try and win. Seriously. Would you truly be mad if our coaches got in trouble for cheating for trying to win?

[BLEEP] no. We are in the worst mist of a nfl franchise of all time. At least he cares , at least he’s trying.

Jags coaches have had the mentality of the Washington generals. Bb as jags coach would be epic. It’s a win win situation. Bb gets the coaching record and pads his stats. Jags learn how to have a winning cut throat mentality. Like my dad says, son you have to have the killa instinct in sports.

Plus, if we DO completely clean house, there's going to be a whole new offense to learn, they'll have to rework all that chemistry anyhoo.

That's just not true at all man. Look at Burrow and Chase. Chase took a year off in college and took this whole offseason off. Burrow and Chase got that chemistry, that true bond. Burrow can close his eyes and knows where his superstar WR is. Chase also knows where to be when the play breaks down, for Burrow to hit him.

The more reps for Trevor and BTJ the better. I don't even understand the argument against it.

There is zero guarantee Trevor is even healthy next year. He has just an equal chance to have an injury next year as right now. BTJ could also be injured next season. None of it makes sense to sit them just because [BLEEP] it.

This assumes they don't already have chemistry, or that any of the concerns I raised won't affect timing or performance in a way that completely negates the benefit of extra unnecessary reps.

We've already seen gunshy Trevor, why do we want to grind him to paste if he's already worn and the season is lost?

If Trevor is good to go, let him play, fine. If he's just toughing it out to delay the inevitable, there's so little to be gained from the delay that it's more worthwhile to get the jump on a new season.

Mac is proving TL is the franchise. Is Mac proving to be the backup?

Do we believe he is worth offering the job on a modest, multi-year deal?

The headlines last weekend were that this is his opportunity to show he can start again. It may be better to say is he showing enough to be your backup?

Nope. Just that he's out Sunday. May be back after the bye but no guarantee. Doesn't need surgery, Doug says no idea where that story came from but not 100% healthy so Doug says he's out.

Only hearing from Doug, no Trevor press conferences so good luck trying to work out what it actually is and what's going on.
