He's started using more zone the last couple weeks and it definitely helped. The radio coverage I was listening to said we played 2 deep safeties on 21 of 22 Vikings pass attempts 1st half. 

I give him credit for making adjustments and trying to find a way to improve the D, I do wonder why it tool so long though.

With the injuries and roster issues, I don't know who was enforcing what. The defense isn't attacking, even when they were playing man. None of what you are seeing matches what Nielsen did in Atlanta or his coaching tree.

In Atlanta, he talked about making the scheme match the players and he did that. He also adjusted his defense based on the opponent. I don't think he did any of this DL rotation either. There's no DL confusion pre-snap to get players free.

What we see doesn't match his past, so I think there has to be some pressure for what is run. While some things are changed, it's basically the same bend, don't break defense the Jags have had for a while. The DL just continues to get worse, so they can't stop the run anymore.

That's a great point and something that will be discussed at length at the end of the season.  The D looked so good Week 1 at Miami but fell of a cliff the next few weeks. He kept playing the same way even with injuries and the same results. I get a DC wanting to implement a style but when it was so obviously not working as he desired you wonder what hrs doing.

They've definitely looked better now he's added more zone coverage in but things like the rotation is still a head scratcher. 

Your so right that this looks nothing like previous D's he's ran and I've said for a few weeks I can't work out why the D was struggling so much (calls, players, execution etc).

Darby is right up there with Davon House and Shaq Griffin as the worst CB in Jaguars history.

Cisco was having the best season of any Safety in Jaguars history the first 5 or 6 games in 2023. No other safety in team history has taken a fall as big as Cisco. Dude fell off, but I’m hoping it’s just the defensive scheme and not his talent. He looks like an outside linebacker trying to run those wide open receivers down. Cisco has become Jarrod Wilson. Maybe they need to switch him back.

We need some help in the secondary in the offseason.

Team plays hard, they just aren't good enough.

IIRC I read that we were the first team to force 3 turnovers, not give up a tuddie and still manage to lose. We are epic.

In spite of those turnovers, still gave up 400 yards of offense.

It legit doesn't matter at this point.

They have wasted what could have been a division winning season. clots stink, tacks stink, texans are vulnerable and yet the Jags have imploded in a way I didn't see coming.

I can't wait for this season to be over so they can clean house and we can start building culture. Whether that's a tough culture like Vrabel or someone from the McVay tree or Ben Johnson. Anything but this.

Savage has been better the last few weeks so that's encouraging to see.  Hopefully he finishes the season strong
