Yeah, I hear ya. It's hope. But it's hope based on the fact that I think Shad is finally coming into his own as someone that has now had over a decade of Ownership experience. I just got back from a long trip to Dallas, so I'm too tired right now to write as much as I usually do... But I would say this... I think Shad, in his first 5 years tried to revamp the franchise with his son. They were both out of their depth. The next 5 years, he realized he needed expertise and hired Coughlin to run things. He got burned by that, and this last 5 years he's tried to keep stability with Baalke to try and remove any sort of chaos. Compared to other owners, Shad is a young pup. The decisions he's made after the first 5 years have been reasonable decisions. He's not a trash owner like they have in NY, or Cincy, or AZ, or Carolina, or Cleveland. He's made mistakes. And yes, one of his mistakes was keeping Baalke too long. But I'd rather have Shad as the owner than someone like Jerruh Jones or the others I mentioned. Shad is trying to find stability and a front office that can build a winning culture. I think/hope that he's finally come to an understanding of what is needed in the NFL to really create a competent franchise. The thing that people hate about Shad is his patience. However, most owners that are succcessful are the ones that are patient and don't over react one way or the other. His greatest flaw to you and others in the fan base can potentially be his greatest strength. If he hires the right EVP this offseason (if not sooner) and get's rid of Baalke (ASAP), I am hopeful that this can be turned around. But yes, I'm merely speculating. But it's speculation based on the tendencies of the owner. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
From a pure football perspective, Shad is the worst NFL owner all time and his record reflects it.
I kept saying for weeks today’s game will prove just how far off we are. The lions started at the exact same spot years ago right with the Jags. Worst team ever assembled in franchise history especially considering the draft capital and free agent money spent to put this [BLEEP] show together. Thanks Shad. The box score brainiacs told me all week how “we are one play away from winning” because of one score games. Jesus christ lmao. If you watched today, it should be obvious we are years away from being where we need to be to compete. Starter wise- need new- o line, dt’s, 1-2 cbs, rb, 2 wrs, fb, safeties. The new starters need to actually be stars because the other guys are just flat out average. There isn’t one elite player on this team. BTJ has a chance to be, but I’m sure we will mess that up. Clearly nobody is making the pro bowl from this team. Does anyone even make it as an alternative? Maybe we can get BTJ to be an alternative. Well, Cooke and Little should make it, forgot our best player is a punter again. We just need for Shad to give a blank check to the best GM and HC available. We're gonna be fine. I have a good feeling about what's to come. You just gotta have faith. Buddy, you could have it so much worse than we got with Shahid. Why the heck do we care about a popularity contest like the probe owl when evaluating an owner's merit?

Because Khan is the reason the team is staying here. Any other owner would move the team to another city.

The only issue with Shad Khan is that he's not willing to make immediate changes when it's clearly necessary and he likes the "stability" of holding over underlings when finally making the changes. We saw it with Marrone after Bradley and we saw it with Baalke after Caldwell. I hope he's learned his lesson this time, I really don't think he's the "off in La La Land" owner some of these posts make him out to be. He wants to win and spends big money to do so, he just hasn't learned the hard lesson yet. And yeah, I'd rather be here than with any of those other franchises as well. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Giants won 2 Super Bowls over the Patriots in the past 16 years and a total of 4 Super Bowls in he past 40 years. I'd take that any day over what we experienced in the past 16 years and 30 years of our franchise respectively. Also, for the record the Panthers playoff record is 9-8 with 2 SB appearance and 6 Division titles whereas the Jags playoff record is 8-8 with 0 SB appearances and 4 Division titles. Thus, the Panthers have been a more successful franchise then the Jaguars. The Jags have been the worst franchise in the NFL since Khan has taken ownership. I too, like picking early in the draft but it kind of kills the fun of Oct-Nov-Dec

Pederson has a presser at 1:45 today.
I think if you don't hear news before then, he's staying.
What are the working hours for the staff the day after a road game? My guess is everyone starts a little later. Hopefully we hear something by noon.

The proper question is where in the world is Shad Khan at the moment? If he's still in the USA then we might see some type of news, but if he immediately hopped a plane back to London or elsewhere he might not even be on our time schedule at this moment. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Maybe he needs to insert a bit of emotion into this decision because being methodical hasn't worked out well for the organization, the team, nor the fans. I get that knee jerk reactions aren't beneficial but we're halfway through the season and it's obvious to everyone there is no light at the end of this tunnel. Everyone knew Detroit would blow us out of the water. There should've been a plan in place that if Scenario A happened the after action would be ABC; if Scenario B happened the after action would be XYZ. Any good leader has a contingency plan or fallback position when stuff hits the fan so emotion isn't involved in the heat of the moment. Khan seems to have neither.

Well, just because it's 9:50 AM on Monday morning and no one has been fired doesn't mean Khan hasn't had a plan in place if we got blown out like we were. He might have already fired him and he's letting him clean out his office and disappear, so he doesn't get swarmed by the media while he's toting boxes to his car. |
