Firing Trent or Doug does nothing for the Jags and everything for them. Like Dan Hicken I am for both remaining throughout the season and working away. He is in favor of letting them "twist in the wind" ? If relieved of duties Trent would go somewhere and Doug to Jupiter and sit on the beach while getting paid. The rest of us would then be stuck watching this best team in history week after week. That doesn't sound fair.

I am open if there is a clear benefit.

Why let them off the hook if you are paying for them. Perhaps they just need that Billy Napier Vote of Confidence from Shad that promises to keep them through next season .... or perhaps through the life of the new Stadium Deal to remove any doubt. The benefit is that maybe a coaching change will lead to a few wins. Doing the same thing over and over again when it's clearly not working though? That would seems dumb. Just wanting to see Doug and Trent go down with the ship doesn't seem like a very good reason to keep them.

Either way is fine with me. I just hate to do it now and let these guys be unemployed with pay after what has occurred. Them being employed doesn't mean you have to delay the selection process. Take the money and time you will spend replacing them and put it towards the selection process.

Moving on from the disaster that is Pederson and Baalke shows that Khan has finally realized it's time to fully clean house. They have been so bad that I would much rather pay them to sit at home and do nothing than to see them ever be associated with this franchise ever again.

What is agreed is the current regime has run it's course. Since Kahn has not asked I sit and wait to see what Kahn thinks.

The only benefit would be if there is an assistant that has head coaching potential where you could give them a trial run. Even then I'd argue it doesnt give that person a great opportunity so it's not really a fair assessment. But it's a moot point for the Jags as there is no assistant who could sniff a head coaching job. I mentioned in a different thread a few days ago this same thing. I get that it makes people feel good if we were to fire some people today but in the end, it has zero bearing on who the next head coach / GM will be. You're hiring these new people after the season is over anyways. Is there anything Shad couldn't do in his search for a new GM/coach if we kept the current staff as opposed to firing them and putting interims in their place? The answer is no. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. We show less advertisements to registered users. Sometimes there are moves you make that are mainly for the purpose of sending a message to the world that what is happening will not be tolerated. Such a message is very appropriate after a team that had high expectations at the beginning of the season goes 2-9 with the last game being one of the worst losses in NFL history. It seems odd to me that after that game yesterday, no one would get fired.
