I'm now kind of hoping Trump puts the tariffs on, so his supporters can see the effect of doing that.

You just witnessed how a proposed tariff was used as leverage to achieve a desired outcome.  Turned out exactly as many “Trumpster’s” predicted it would and still you doubt the effectiveness the tariff as a bargaining chip.

We're currently paying higher prices in the stores because of HORRIBLE democrat policies..

And if we have to pay higher prices to help further secure our country, so be it.. At least one of the higher prices is going to help keep us safe and not further endanger our societies anymore..

Performative concessions to do things they were already doing or about to start doing anyhow.

Is Trudeau headed out as Canada's PM. Canada is governed on a parliamentary system. Much different than here.

That's the idea of tariffs.  A company isn't going to buy the same widget for twice the price ($20) to sell and pass that cost onto consumers, they are going to buy the less expensive one ($15) made in the U.S.A, advertise that it's made in the U.S.A and sell the widget that might cost a consumer a little bit more than the Chinese made widget.

Yes, prices might rise just a bit, but that extra cost supports companies/business in the U.S. and in turn supports good paying jobs in the U.S.
Would you be referring to widgets made in the CHIPS program, which is slated to be cancelled?

Some products are simply not made here, and our Speaker is bound and determined that they will not be made here.

On top of that, corporations will pay attention to the companies burned by the CHIPS cancellation, and will be reluctant to get involved in any future projects.

Yep, that's what is taught NOW - using Rubbermaid as an example.

It's also why many Canadians would like to see the Canadian economy just a wee tad less dependent on the United States of America.

Fortunately for those Canadians, Daddy Donald has announced that he will be taking concrete steps to help ensure that that happens.

I thought Trump was going to put tariffs on in order to raise the price of imported goods and help American manufacturers.

That's not true now?

Read your own articles man.  No caravan has reached the border since 2019.
This one was probably not going to make it regardless, but they started off, hoping to get here before January 20.
The election of Trump is both the cause of and the solution to this caravan, apparently.  Nothing to celebrate here.

Is that a caravan and are they on their way to the border?

Yes or no?

Can there be more than one facet to how tariffs will be used?

XYZ corp see’s tariffs coming for products made in Taiwan raising the cost to do business there.  Makes a deal with the US Gov to delay tariffs imposed on them while they build a new facility in Tennessee.

Will the cost of good go up for all Americans?  Certainly.  Will the country be better off when manufacturing returns to our soil providing good jobs for those willing to work? Certainly.

So is he or is he not going to put tariffs on Mexican imports?  Is there actually something Mexico can do to stop him from doing that?  The idea that Mexico is going to stop the migrants because of the threat of tariffs implies that there is something Mexico can do to forestall the tariffs.  But if the reason for the tariffs is to make Mexican products more expensive and help American manufacturers, then Mexico cannot forestall the tariffs by stopping the migrants.

Maybe, the threat is jarring them to action of stopping the freeway of illegals they allow to pass through their country to ours. I guess you really don't understand the concept of wielding power, just watch the next few years as foreign countries start acting differently towards us like they did during his first term and you'll start to see the benefits of a strong US foreign policy backed by a person whom the world fears will use it against them.
