2025 - The Mock Draft Thread

#1

Wanted to get this one out now since the big games are going to start coming up shortly with the holidays around the corner. Feel free to grade, critique or add your own. Over the past few years I have enjoyed using Drafttek's website for overall prospect rankings, sleepers and to give me an idea on how to canvas and start looking up stats and highlight reels. Using the same approach for 2025's draft.

I'll probably stick to a few simulators I enjoy. PFF for just the first few rounds. Since I am not paying for premium, etc. Followed by the NFL Mock Draft Simulator for a full draft.

PFF:
4th overall - Will Johnson - CB - Michigan
36th overall - Princely Umanmielen - EDGE - Ole' Miss
68th overall - Jonah Savaiinaea - RG/Swing OT - Arizona
92nd overall - Nick Emmanwori - S - South Carolina

Really had to play the value board there with PFF. While we have had our challenges on offense this year. Defensively? We clearly have issues in the secondary and we lack a pass rushing presence outside of Walker and Hines-Allen. These top four selections offer a remedy to the defense while also picking up Jonah who has played RG, RT and LT. I am taking him here to replace Scherff as a RG. I think he's given up a little too much in sacks and pressures for me to feel confident in him anchoring a LT or RT position full time, but, he looks like he could be a true RG and get the running game going better.

NFL Mock Draft Database Simulator:

This one, I opted for a trade down after losing out on Travis Hunter prior to the fourth selection. In this scenario. I swapped the 4th overall selection over to the Browns for their 7th, 38th, 69th, 93rd and 186th overall selections along with a 5th and 6th RD selection in 2026's draft.

7th overall - Will Johnson - CB - Michigan
35th overall - Wyatt Milum - LT - West Virginia
38th overall - Princely Umanmielen - EDGE - Ole' Miss
69th overall - Xavier Watts - S - Notre Dame
71st overall - Xavier Restrepo - WR - Miami, FL
92nd overall - Tate Ratledge - RG - Georgia
93rd overall - Kevin Winston Jr. - S - Penn State
107th overall - Jayden Higgins - WR - Iowa State
129th overall - Jake Majors - C - Texas
142nd overall - Jack Nelson - OT - Wisconsin
179th overall - Oronde Gadsden II - TE - Syracuse
186th overall - Jaeden Roberts - OG - Alabama
193rd overall - Raheim Sanders - RB - South Carolina
219th overall - Terrance Ferguson - TE - Oregon

Really enjoyed this class and how some of the pieces fell. Again, needed to address the secondary. Adding Johnson, Watts and Winston Jr. is pretty wild. Really like Umanmielen as that missing rotational EDGE piece. Getting Milum, Ratledge, Majors, Nelson and Roberts to bolster the offensive line is nice.

Landing Restrepo and Higgins at WR would make Lawrence a happy camper. Giving Gadsden a chance to play the Engram type role at TE during training camp while adding Ferguson who is a bit more well rounded and polished at TE to push for the 3rd and 4th string role. Sanders is a big back, does a bit of both in the ground and receiving game. We really don't have a guy like that on our roster, but, he would immediately upgrade the 3rd string position and offer short yardage support as well.

NFL Mock Draft Database Simulator:

No trades in this one.

4th overall - Will Johnson - CB - Michigan
35th overall - Walter Nolen - DT - Ole' Miss
71st overall - Kyle Kennard - EDGE - South Carolina
92nd overall - Kevin Winston Jr. - S - Penn State
107th overall - Jaxson Dart - QB - Ole' Miss
129th overall - Dylan Fairchild - OG - Georgia
142nd overall - Tai Felton - WR - Maryland
179th overall - Jared Wilson - OC - Georgia
193rd overall - Jake Briningstool - TE - Clemson
219th overall - Connor Colby - OG - Iowa

This draft was all about value, trusting the process, looking ahead a little bit and specifically targeting needs that were potentially not addressed via free agency. Right off the bat, we're going defense with our selections within the top 100. Shoring up the secondary with Johnson and Winston Jr. Adding some pass rush within the interior and the edge with Nolen and Kennard. All four of these players compliment the starting unit already. Johnson offers CB1 lockdown ability to make Campbell's life easier as a CB2. Nolen is a pass rushing interior threat. Kennard is a FANTASTIC, high motor, never quitter at EDGE. Fun to watch his highlights. Winston Jr. is a big presence at safety with range, coming over a from a great defensive school in general.

Offensively. I started to watch the board and I trusted my instincts here. Dart is a good QB. Think he's sneaky good, a bit of a Baker Mayfield quality to his game with his leadership style, his energy and his mobility. He's been really fun to watch over these last two years and we won't have a viable back-up in 2025 with Beathard and Jones more than likely gone. Dart is a premium insurance policy in my opinion and with the right coaching could be a dynamic threat in the NFL. After him, I proceeded to address the obvious needs. We need OG's and OC help. I got that. Fairchild is not Ratledge but he's still sound. Wilson is a worthy replacement to Morse. Colby is a tough, gritty type OG coming out of Iowa.

Felton has some fun elements to his game. Has been a really impressive, high volume type WR this year for Maryland. Highlights are good for sure. Bringingstool is a sneaky, sneaky good TE prospect in my opinion coming out of Clemson. There's a bit of a Tucker Kraft look and feel to him coming out of a bigger conference with bigger competition to contest with. With Engram possibly gone in the off season via cut or trade, we'll only be left with Strange and Farrell. We'll need to start replenishing the TE room. Briningstool is a good option there and is probably a steal if I am being honest at 193.

Nolan is one of my favorite players in the draft.  Hes a 1st round talent imo.  Getting him in the 2nd would be a steal.

Unless I am mistaken, the Jaguars would select ahead of the Patriots if their records are both 3-14. This is due to the Patriots having a stronger schedule. The Jaguars would then have the opportunity to draft Hunter. I'm surprised the Sporting News didn't research this better.

As of now the Pats pick ahead of us but we are about to play the Raiders, Titans, and Colts.   The Pats have to play the Bills twice so they will likely have a stronger SOS in a couple weeks.

How about taking Desmond Watson in the late rounds? Just think if we take Graham in the first along with Howard. It would be almost impossible for our opponent to get a yard on a run up the middle

The days of us not being able to stop the team on 3rd and 1 or 4th and one with a run up the middle would be over. That Demond Watson with the Hiesman pose was nice as well lol

I have done very limited player research , waiting until end of season , especially the middle rounds, but here is my first crack

Selecting slaughter if he is available in those later rounds should be a no brainer

But considering how badly this team messed up the Frazier pick yeah

I suck at trading in mocks so I tried a 4 round one with none

3rd- Will Johnson- CB
34- Nick EMmanwori- S
70- Tate ratledge- IOL
94- Jayden royals- WR
106- Demonte capehart- DL
131- Malachi Moore- S

If I did 5 rounds I'd be picking jake slaughter is he is available late as well

Nolan likely goes in the 1st.  I dont think Rateledge makes it to the 3rd and I wouldnt be surprised if he goes in the first.  Hes the best guard in the draft imo. Maybe Campbell ahead of him if you want him at G. I great first 3 picks though.

I'm beginning to believe that Mason Graham would be the best option for the Jaguars, especially if Hunter is off the board. It's harder to find big guys in the draft who could excel at the NFL level. A defensive line of Allen, Maason Smith, Mason Graham and Walker with Hamilton and Armstead rotating in as tackles has the potential to be elite. The cornerback position could be upgraded in free agency as there are several great options lead by D.J. Reed and Chavarious Ward. No doubt, an additional safety and pass rusher will be needs that need to also be addressed at some point in the draft or in free agency.

The offensive line will need significant help and fortunately the draft and free agency will provide several excellent options. My favorites are Tyler Booker at the top of round 2 and Drew Dalman in free agency. Dalman is only 26 and would be an upgrade from Mitch Morse who has regressed as of late. If Dalman is not signed, I would not hesitate to trade back up into round 2 and take Ratledge from Georgia. The running game would improve greatly with the addition of at least 2 of these players.

I think the jags could trade back in the first and still land Graham
I would love for them to pick watts in the 2nd cause I think emmanwori is gone before he gets to us and then trade for another pick to land Rateledge

Would be such a good haul

How far back for Graham?  Depends on if we win another game or not.  Watts is my top rated safety and I think he could go in the 1st as well depending on his combine.  I see Watts as that rare single high ball hawking FS who is good against the run too if we wanted to use him that way .  I'm very high on Emmanwori as well, I think he would be our SS that is good in coverage and could be used closer to the line of scrimmage with great size and a beast in the run game.  I'd love to add both honestly and could really use both, can't wait to see their 40 times.

Yeah, I think FA will give us a good idea where we target in the draft.  If we sign a CB we likely target Graham, if we dont i think we like a CB at the top.  Like you said about G.  If we dont get one in FA we have to get one early in the draft, we have to get one of the top Gs in the draft.  FA will be interesting and I think it will tell us a little about their board and how they think the draft will fall.  My only thing about Booker is if you draft him he better be a dominant run blocker at 350+ lbs., I like his age though
