A Good man with good intentions with all his work with Habitat for Humanity. People say is was a bad President, but when you look at the hand he was dealt, we had just really gotten out of the Vietnam war right before he was elected, we were in the middle of a huge recession because a lot of industries, mainly, the steel industries which had a trickle down effect on the entire economy so other industries had to lay off people and on down the line it went. Then, when you consider the fact of the Arab oil embargo which really crippled the economy with rising prices to the point where inflation, which was already out of control from the Ford Administration, it was going to take a major effort from both the government, and the private sector to get us out of. It was a situation where no one could possibly bluff their way out of.

He was a tremendous humanitarian. A blunder of a president. Yes, he inherited a mess, but he was too milquetoast and too Democrat for what this country needed at the time.

His partnership with Habitat for Humanity is one of the best things to happen for folks with certain criteria to buy an affordable home.

He seemed like a good guy all around.

He had a sometimes troubled presidency (mostly due to circumstances outside his control) but was a great humanitarian and his character was second to none. RIP.

Great man. The only Democrat i ve ever voted for. Did Hab for Humanity a few times during my working days and talked at length with him and Rossalyn twice in the lunch tent. A real down to earth gentleman. He even remembered me by name the 2nd time we met 4 years later, which was pretty mindblowing. And he was in his late 70 s! No photo op guy, he worked the entire day. RIP.
