Coen has done a great job in Tampa this year. Love how they've just gone for it. Sadly I think he'd stay at Tampa over coming here.

What's going to be interesting is Baalke has 1 year left. Having that uncertainty over what's going to happen at the GM position could also deter HC. Is the new GM going to want to make their own choice? Is Baalke getting an extension regardless of next season?

It's just another layer of uncertainty that's probably going to work against us when we're HC hunting compared to our rivals.

I've not heard one person today say keeping Baalke was the right move.

To the bold part- Shad said he doesn't see how that is relevant at all to the HC search.

LOL

Some people around here really don’t like it when it’s brought up, but I continue to believe that a lot of Peterson’s problem is his loyalty to his offensive coordinator. I guess we will find out if we get another coach who can either be a good offensive coordinator or hire a good offensive coordinator. As far for the defense, it was supposed to be good enough to play with leads. The offense, was supposed to be the catalyst for this jaguar team

Wallbash

Shad come off so bad in that press conference. They seem to be putting all their chips on a new HC and staff turning this roster into a winner.

We all just know that it will be the next HCs fault again when Baalkes roster weaknesses are ruthlessly exposed again.

I’m still in a state of shock that this weasel somehow managed to keep his job. Everyone in the nfl circle knows this guy is a joke and our team will continue to flounder as long as he’s here.

Just goes to show that these supposed "insiders" are full of [BLEEP] grifters who get lucky every once in awhile.

Someone asked Shad if he would consider getting rid of Baalke if a promising HC candidate wanted another GM. He affirmed that was an option.

people like Hurricane and the core 45k kept this franchise afloat while Shad stabalized its future here in Jacksonville

I can see both points.  Either way, I'd rather support a sucky NFL franchise in Jacksonville, rather than risk losing the team to another city.

Word on the street is that Eric Bieniemy will be the Jags new coach! It turns out he's the only coach that doesn't mind working with Baalke. (He also really needs a job.)

PS. The street is the one that I live on.

I do see the point, I just dont see Shad as the type of owner to make football decisions on the basis of fan apathy.

We fire Doug and keep Baalke.

JagFan81, did the Tennessee organization confirm they are keeping Brian Callahan?  I saw Jim Irsay's statement regarding Indianapolis retaining Chris Ballard and Steve Sheichen but haven't seen anything regarding Amy Adams Strunk making a statement?

I definitely understand and respect the disappointment (and well beyond) you and the overwhelming majority of other passionate Jaguars have regarding the decision Shad Khan made. I'm wondering if Khan will change his mind about the Jags GM situation if the HC search process doesn't go well?

I think that's the only way change happens, if they start making calls to schedule interviews and everyone suddenly has colonoscopies already set on those days, sorry.

It's also again, a [BLEEP] option.

The way this SHOULD work- Khan puts the work in and finds an elite level GM to lead this team. Then- we find a HC option.

IF by chance that situation happens that you suggested, and that new HC is a LAME DUCK. Then what? Fire both at end of year?

Khan will simply always choose the least work option, because end of the day he's making a boat load of money and wins/losses doesn't change that.

And that will be such a Jags move.

Baalke obviously needs to go. Shad said he’s keeping Baalke. Every coach says they want the job but they don’t want Baalke. So Shad fires Baalke and they move on.

It happened in KC with Andy Reid so maybe it happens here.

An Andy Reid situation is the only type where this would make sense, but who out there is on that level? In this situation you're saying OK, it's Reid's show let him run it. Reid coached FOURTEEN YEARS in Philly, which allowed him to be able to call those type of shots. Allowing a rookie HC, or one who miserably failed after a couple of years, to have this type of power is idiotic on all levels and fits in perfect with Shad. I would love Ben Johnson, but I don't want him as a rookie HC coming in and picking all levels of structure in the organization with ZERO prior experience.

The only one who comes in my head, who I'd allow this type of power to is Mike Tomlin if he is let go or they allow him to be traded. He hasn't had a losing season in 19 years, and (like Reid in Philly) just cant seem to get over that hump in the playoffs for whatever reason. It took Reid getting Mahomes to get over the hump, so who knows, maybe Trevor is Tomlin's guy? That's really the only option I'd see this massive power scenario making sense.

Only after all the other coaches get hired somewhere else.

Heard Doug was canned and was getting excited. Then, I heard Baalke is staying. Now I'm sad again. Prepare for another year of more FA busts and long-armed players.

This seems to me to be the first move. The next one depends on how this HC search goes.

I agree with this. We need to keep a record for these so called leakers. They guess [BLEEP] and occasionally get it right.

Agreed, he totally came off as a company man this episode. Licking Shads boot.
