Shad Does it Again: Perpetual Losers keep doing the same thing.

#1

Listening to the press conference it is clear as day that Shahid Khan is a clueless NFL and sports owner.  It's no coincidence that his soccer and NFL teams are losing franchises. The fans and media are telling him to clean house but it falls on his deaf ears.  He speaks like he knows better than any of us but his method has proven to retain a losing structure. I am so tired and disappointed but not totally shocked.  Shad means the best but is a horrible team owner.  Yes he spends the money and yes he cares but he refuses to do the right things to build sustained success.  If this following season continues to lose we get to start the whole GM search process.  I just don't see how things will be any different.  It's exhausting being a Jaguar owner when you see the leadership constantly making the same mistakes again and again and again.  I just do not see any sustained signs for success here.

That was the most depressing press conference I've ever heard.

[BLEEP] Trent...and [BLEEP] Shad for being Trent's yes man. Sorry. That was a HORRIBLE press conference.

YES. Doug needed to go. I'd argue that Nielson needs to go too.

Doesn't mean Shad needed to become the great Trent Baalke defender.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

I'm not sure what it is, but Khan just can't flush a toilet, for some reason. He keeps thinking there's something in it worth keeping no matter how many years he spends being shown that method is not the way to go.

Actually, Khan's soccer team (Fulham) is doing very well (9th place of 20 teams), considering they are 13th in team payroll.

American Football, I agree. Everybody has been questioning the Baalke hire from day 1 and its proven to be a terrible hire. That said, he took the same approach with prior coaches and GMs so why change this unique method of ownership that he's brought to the NFL.

Also, please note that Shad gave Gus Bradley an extension on his way to a 14-48 record as a head coach (1 win and 13 losses in the key month of September).

Now he’s keeping a GM who’s had 38 draft picks in 4 years and 0 All Pro selections among them. Khan is a [BLEEP] clown.

Unfortunately, i think a lot of people share your sentiment. I really like Brian Thomas and Tlaw and given that my son is just turning 5 this is the season and i wanted to start taking him to games so i don't want to let this bull [BLEEP] get in the way of that. But i can honestly say that if it wasn't for him, i would not be going to any games this year and would probably miss a few games on tcv as well.

Baalke is a great GM. Look at the number of all pro players he's drafted, the great job he's done in free agency, his winning record as a GM. How can anyone not want him signed to a 20 year contract extension?

Come on man!  At least let him root for the opposing team, the Jaguars aren't an example of a team that you want to be born into...life is painful enough.   Tongue

I don't like keeping Trent but that's not fair.
The Jags don't get respect in the Pro Bowl system regardless, and it's very hard to make a case for a guy who's on a losing team. Once a team becomes a winning team, suddenly certain players get Pro Bowl attention who weren't getting it before. The voters never really look at whose individual efforts are contributing on each play. They just look at stats. And players on bad teams *usually* put up bad stats, even if those players are good.

Trevor probably would have put up a Pro Bowl season if he had good players around him consistently, ETN definitely would have put up a Pro Bowl season in 2023 if he had any kind of interior blocking helping him, and BTJ straight up did put up a Pro Bowl season just this year! The clowns who vote somehow are more impressed with Zay Flowers who has less touchdowns and less yards while playing on a better team.  That's three should have been Pro Bowlers, which is one more than the two that an average GM should be able to haul in with 38 picks.

If you're going to judge by Pro Bowlers, Travon Walker has yet to put up a Pro Bowl quality season, and the three guys drafted after him have already gotten Pro Bowl honors. I think you can definitely put that down as a mistake by Baalke, but it's a stupid metric anyhow. It's not as if Hutchinson over Walker would have fixed this team this year.

You should never try to outsmart pure wins and losses. If you want to get specific, look at the high draft picks in the highly paid free agents and see if they were at positions of need and if they panned out compared to others that were available. But even after you do that, you are what your record says you are at the end of the day. The Jags played in 13 one-score games this year. They won three of them. Even if you assume they should have won half of those one score games, that still only gets you to eight wins, out of the playoffs and a losing record, with an incredibly talented franchise quarterback, and one of the highest payrolls in the league.  That's the metric to use, and I don't know how you look at that and still want to keep either Doug or Trent.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

I will match that with giving Dave Caldwell nearly a decade

You aren't wrong on this one, Shad is a [BLEEP] jack [BLEEP].

Baalke is a master at throwing everybody around him under the bus and snaking his way through once again... Pathetic.

Washington hired a consulting firm to vette potential GM and HC. Stacked ranked their options. That seemed to work out for Commanders; they're freaking 12-5! That's the way business is done.

My main takeaway from the press conference is he refuses to learn anything really about the NFL, and this tweet reinforces why. If the quality of the product mattered and hit his pocket, he would without a doubt commit the TIME and LEARN why he is 64-148 career record as an owner. However, since the quality of the product doesn't matter, he is making a great profit and is able to act aloof, unmotivated, and content.

If this were his bumpers, and cars weren't buying his bumpers due to QUALITY and it being a horrible product, pretty sure he would be smart enough to assess as the Owner/CEO the who, what, when, where, and hows. Reason being, he would start losing money. Then- you FIX it, or attempt to at least. In the NFL, doesn't matter your product, the shared revenue is overwhelming, which is why at the end of the day he really rather allocate his time and energy toward other business ventures which he has many of. Nobody is asking him to turn into some football mastermind, but for god sakes have a finger on the pulse of your fanbase, your franchise, the NFL as a whole, etc. This isn't year 1 as owner for Shad, he is entering year 14. YEAR 14, he doesn't know the meaning of "clean slate" and starts mentioning medical doctors and team cooks as a reason he doesn't want to fire 85 people, doesn't understand why it is relevant that your GM has 1 year left and how it impacts the decision of a potential HC, clearly doesn't care about the fanbase, his NFL circle consists of- Trent Baalke and Ethan Waugh (I mean really this part is embarrassing and a joke), and quite frankly he doesn't care he is a career 64-148 career record owner and won't put any effort into why that might be.

You said it all here for sure.  This is a sad occurrence that happens year after year.  In effect the things are "doing" for the franchise are all rooting in just profiting his checkbook.  The NFL right now is a money making machine and if you invest in the amenities of the team (like he is along with tax payers) HE reaps the benefit.  It is all business to him.
