I hope that things can still work out, but firing Baalke yesterday is in no way equivalent to firing him a month ago and already having a new GM in place clearing out the scouting cancer and building the foundation for a winning organization with the opportunity to hire its first choice at head coach. It’s the fact that Khan had to be smacked in the face to finally see what everyone else was seeing. Not just fans, but league insiders. Yes, he fired Baalke. Hooray! But he dragged his feet for so long that he allowed Baalke to even further injure the team. But as you intimate, it’s time to move on and hope for better days ahead.
All right fine. Khan, you son of a [BLEEP], you got me back.
This whole process is a [BLEEP] disaster, but hopefully we can salvage this with Joe Brady (who I wanted when he was in Carolina).
Joe Brady as an option. And we should wait to interview him.
But honestly, why we aren't considering Mike McCarthy is ridiculous. McCarthy is viable at this point. We've lost out on great potential. Why not take a look at a guy that knows how to win 13 games a year, and also rally a team that lost Dak mid season when all looked lost??? McCarthy needs to be interviewed. The fact that we aren't even considering him is total stupidity
This could stretch a bit longer. Maybe even weeks before we get a hire. Unless a random bombshell drops.

I'm not trying to spam this thread about McCarthy, but I don't know when the site is going to go back down and when I can post again... I just think we need to look at McCarthy. At this point, he's probably the most viable team builder that we could hire that is a known coach that can deal with an idiot owner...
I think we will hire a coach, maybe in the next few days, maybe in a week or two, and then we'll hire the GM. I don't think we will slow the coaching search to get the GM first.

At best it was maybe a reduced role. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if Ben Johnson also said that he wouldn't work with Baalke. However, Khan could rationalize it as BJ just preferring the Chicago job. With Coen, he had no other offers or even interviews. Even Khan had to realize that he's not getting a good coach unless he fires Baalke.

My understanding is that the coordinators still in the post season can interview since it's a bye week. The Jags gave first interviews to three candidates that are still in the Super Bowl hunt -- Brady, Moore and Spags. Right now, the Jags have to wait for them. According to CBS Sports, Tony Boselli has been brought in to help with the interview process.

It was true about the buzz with Liam Coen. We could see a 180. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Coen in Jacksonville discussing a deal to make him the Jags new head coach per Schefter! What a ride the last 24 hours has been!

Adam Schefter:
"Buccaneers have had no contact today with Liam Coen or his representation. The team has made multiple efforts to reach him and has not. Coen is in Jacksonville discussing a deal to become the head coach." My sources were right last night. It was a bluff.

Saw that Coen was hired! I had a bad take on whether that could be the case. Good job, Jags.
Edit: Saw it on YouTube > UCF Jaguars, but he's saying it's not official.

Can we leave the personal insults behind for a while and get back to some semblance of topic, gents? Please, and thank you. |
