Let's Talk About: The Middle East Edition
|
I was hoping we would stay out of this Iran/Israel mess but as of last night we're in it. I figure it will be a topic of news and discussion for some time so I decided to start a thread about it separate from the Let's Talk Politics thread.
Trump had said he was going to make a final decision on the matter in two weeks but, surprise! We came home last night from being out and about and saw what happened. I have a love/hate relationship with Trump's behavior; much like one with bipolar disorder has manic and depressive phases and I really hope he made this decision with a clear mind and with irrefutable evidence that the alternative (not taking action right now) would be highly detrimental. What happened to Iran on Saturday should have been done 46 years ago when they took our people hostage. But we had a President that was a coward, and didn't have the stomach, or the balls to take action. Of course, I'm talking about Jimmy "Mr Peanut" Carter. If we would have taken action back in 1979, WE probably would be seeing 99% of the [BLEEP] from these middle eastern [BLEEP]-holes we've been seeing since then. No Taliban, No Isis, no Bin Laden, Hamas or any other of those Terrorist. 9/11 probably would not have happened because if we would have taken action back then, they would not have come out of their caves to start [BLEEP] because they would have known we would have blown the [BLEEP] out of them! GO TRUMP!

I would have preferred we stay out of it, but the uranium enrichment was a festering sore with a lot of the world. There was no way the Iranians were going to lay it on the bargaining table and now was the prime opportunity to destroy it (forthcoming damage assessments notwithstanding). Had we not taken action and Iran then demonstrated a nuclear bomb in the future, the regret and dread would flow like a river. Israel will now most likely cease their attacks since the nuclear development sites were the main objective. The U.S. has no other reason to attack unless damage assessments show more destruction is needed. The big threat now is Iranian sleeper cells within the U.S. and abroad. Made much easier by Meat Puppets handlers during the previous four years. While Iran still has a network of proxies, they are severely weakened with the absence of Iranian money, arms and military action by the U.S. and its allies. Regardless, Muslim fundamentalism always presents a threat. Now we wait. The ball is in Iran's court to act - without the big hammer of nuclear threat as a bargaining tool. They can continue to carry on in a petulant manner, slinging missiles at Israel and coordinating terrorist attacks until they run out of resources or come to the negotiation table. Additionally, the time is ripe for an overthrow. There is a significant undercurrent of grievance among Iran's generations who came along after the overthrow of the Shah. Persians are intelligent, ambitious people yet they live in a country constantly hobbled by economic woes brought about by sanctions and corruption from a theocracy which no longer resounds with a large portion of the population. It's a thorny situation, for sure. My personal opinion is this was a time to act, and I would feel no differently if a Democrat POTUS made the same decision.

I don't have a problem with the action per se, I really don't want the US to be involved with boots on the ground. I agree something had to be done I'm just hoping Trump and his advisors not only thought about this action but the ripple effect it will cause. Sleeper cells are certainly a concern and I'm glad we have a government in office that will go scorched earth on any that decide to do violence.
I did watch a video yesterday that discussed why Iran's proxies had not reacted to Israel giving them the business with a lack of money, leadership and the will to fight being the main factors. I'm not a fan of us getting involved in foreign conflicts but Iran needs to be dealt with because that certainly wouldn't remain a foreign problem. We show less advertisements to registered users. That would be a HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Russian leader claims multiple countries prepped to provide Iran nuclear weapons following US strikes Russia's former president said that the production of nuclear weapons in Iran will continue Russia's former president said that multiple countries are poised to provide Iran with nuclear warheads after the U.S. launched strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities. "The enrichment of nuclear material — and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue," Dmitry Medvedev, now the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, said in a Sunday X post. "A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads," Medvedev said. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/russian...us-strikes ![]()
Time to take out the Mullahs. Iran wants to be free, we should help them win it.

85% of Iranians are against the government: Nick Berg
Iranian-born author Nick Berg told NewsNation that Iran has publicly executed at least 1,700 people in 2025, adding that much of the country is against its current government. Berg, an Iranian-born author of “Shadows of Tehran,” joined “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” to discuss the current reality in Iran and why he believes a dayslong internet blackout has occurred. “About 85 to 90% of the people, ordinary Iranians, are against the government,” Berg said…
If the whole attack was to cripple Iran's nuclear enrichment and the B2 was successful, then why does Israel need to attack Tehran now?

But “when they saw what it was about, they refused to continue watching,” Katz said, according to The Times of Israel. “The antisemitic flotilla members are turning a blind eye to the truth and have proven once again that they prefer the murderers to the murdered and continue to ignore the atrocities committed by Hamas against Jewish and Israeli women, adults and children,” Katz said...
According to a CNN broadcast just a few minutes ago, as per the correspondent and accompanying footage showing the actual bomb strike, Israel literally blew the doors off of a prison in Tehran used to jail activists and journalists who speak out against the regime.

This conflict with Iran was unavoidable. As most of our affairs and issues in the Middle East have been for quite some time. I don't believe Russia or China will get involved. A lot folks are worried about WWIII this or WWIII that. This will be more like Desert Storm III if anything. I think the biggest and most obvious concern is how Iran will respond. Most likely targeting our military forces within striking distance and then naturally we have to be on the lookout now for something to happen here on our soil.
It'll be interesting. If Iran yields and signs a deal with us though it was well worth the preemptive strike that Trump made alongside Israel. It's the most volatile region on the globe and as ugly as it's been and as much as people may hate it, something had to be done and the work will continue to have to be done in order to somewhat stabilize it. I also believe it gives the East something to chew on and think about. Trump is now a wildcard geopolitically. Everyone will be on their toes moving forward until he's out of office and that's for the best in my opinion. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Second Israel is now hitting access roads to sites and the internal goon squads that are used to keep people under control.

Israel and the U.S. are now pivoting towards regime change. Tactically it's sound because if they can foment disruption and actual overthrow of the current leadership, that would likely negate the threat of response. It's going to get interesting.
